Ramsbottom United v. Witton Albion

A very good win that! The play offs look enticingly close but we need some better luck with injuries and suspensions. UTA

A much-changed Ramsbottom team to the one we played earlier in the season but you can only beat what’s in front of you.

Strange game to watch first half was like slow motion.

Ramsbottom were poor, didn’t seem to have any idea a nice header from Witton to give us the goal, we needed more urgency from the players.

Second half we played much better, the sending off was very harsh it was a booking but not a red. Prince was outstanding today, Ramsbottom went all out to score but Witton held on to win.

Another good performance from the team.

First half we had a decent amount of possession, but too often moves broke down in the final third of the pitch.

Second half we played better, particularly when we went down to ten men. I agree with Dixy that the sending off should only have been a yellow card.

All the players put a shift in, with Prince getting his reward for his persistence to capitalise on a mistake for the second goal. Ollie made several really good saves in the second half to keep a clean sheet.

I guess it says something about the mentality of this group (and the management) that we weren’t content to just sit back and try to defend our one goal lead when we went down to ten men.

Good performance today. Only one team played any football.

Never a sending off, foul and yellow yes, but never a red. The tackle on Cameron in the first half was a lot worse but that went unpunished.

As with last week’s ref against Colne they don’t seem to want the game to flow. Too many stoppages which in turn killed the game in parts.

Prince was superb today but a special mention for Sam Billington who was excellent when he came on.

Good performance today in tough conditions.

Positive results around us, a clean sheet which is a good bonus. 2 in a week.

Roll on Prescot at home. Hopefully a big turnout of support.
