Reserve Team Games

Message from the Chairman

It may be early in the season, but fixtures are already coming thick and fast for the second team, and tomorrow (Thursday 16 September) they are at home to Lancaster City (kick off 7.45pm), a game which marks the first of three in the space of five days. Both teams are on four points, and while Lancaster have the better goal difference, Albion have a game in hand.

The squad for the game is expected to include more than a handful of first team players, as Paul Ogden looks to ensure that all his squad are match fit, and with three home games within the week, he looks to build on his sides start to the season. The line-up tomorrow is also expected to include a new signing, provided that his registration can be completed in time. Until the registration is completed, the club are unable to make any further comment.

Second team manager, Tony Ennion, is all too aware of the reasons behind the inclusion of first team players, commenting: “The second team was always there to provide not only players who in time may be able to step-up to the first team, but also give players either returning from injury or in need of time on the pitch a run out. The inclusion of such players can only help what is essentially a young second team squad, and I’m sure they will learn from that experience.”

On Saturday they compete in the Cheshire County Amateur Cup, when they come up against another Albion, the one from Wilmslow. Although drawn to play at home, the fixture has had to be reversed due to the first team playing Leigh Genesis, a fixture which itself was reversed, and they end their run of games 48 hours later when they travel to play Fleetwood Town at the home of AFC Blackpool.

Admission to all second team games is £2.00 adults and £1.00 concessions.

Any news on last night’s game?

Won 3 -1 last night with Brian Pritchard scoring one of the goals isn`t it time he got a game in the first team?

I thought he was taking a step back?

Why is Pritch on strictly come dancing?
