Witton Reserves beat Billinge on Penalties after a very hard fought game, in which Billinge from division 2certainly raised their game, and could have won the game with quite a few good efforts, but we could have also won it only for a penalty miss(just like the 1st team)
But Brett Walker made 3 good saves in the penalty shootout to put us through to the quarter finals next Saturday AWAY again to Barnton, with the winners playing Crosfields AWAY in the semi final(date to be arranged)
The reserves need 1 point on Tuesday night to ensure runners up spot, lets hope Jim gives us a strong side for this match, as we will then have another Trophy in the board room
Yep Brett again became the hero - only after a few very nevous moments when Billinge went very close to scoring.

Started off quite well but then resorted to too many high balls that the home team with some tall lads in their line-up cleared easily.

Billinge took the lead a minute from the interval by profiting from Albion’s defenders failure to clear properly. The lad who scored though deserves praise as he hit a lovely dipping shot from the angle of the penalty area that gave Brett little chance.

Albion came out geared up to getting themselves back into the tie and equalised just three minutes into the period. With Danny McNamara in an offside position, but not active, GAVIN SMITH burst through, drew the keeper and sidestepped round him before calmly slotting the ball home.

Chances at either end went begging and then ten minutes into extra-time a great chance to settle the tie. Danny Mac was fouled but Mike Cartner sent the resultant penalty-kick narrowly wide.

So to the dreaded penalty shoot-out with Billinge going first.

BILLINGE ?Saved, Scored, Scored, Saved & Saved

ALBION Gary Furnival scored, Matt Murray scored, Craig Ward saved after a retake, Dave Ness scored

Team: Walker, Murray, Jump, Furnival, Ness; MacNamara, Ward, Hurley, Cartner; Jarrett & Smith. Subs n/used Stringer & Clarke.
