The reserves won 3-2 today at home to Daten FC
The team didn’t get into their usual style of play today, I think because they had a few missing, like Simon Hughes and Rick Bailey on 1st team duty.
Andy Parkinson out on loan, Gavin Smith away on holiday
They went behind with a simple goal on 24 min, This seemed to liven them up and they started to play some good football, with Andy Hurst scoring on 38 mins and he made it 2 -1 on 52 mins, after an offside goal was disallowed for Daten, and we went straight down for Andy to score.
We were well on top now and we had 2 saved by defenders on the line and their keeper made a few good saves, but on 59 mins, after about 3 players had attempts blocked Craig Ward made sure from close range to make it 3-1, Daten then came into the game as we seemed content on the score but Daten were awarded a penaly on 85 mins for hand ball and they scored a well taken penalty sending Brett the wrong way.
They then were pressing for the equaliser, and the ref, who had a good game as did his assistants played added on time of 5 mins.
But we held out for a much needed 3-2 win,
We needed this at Middlewich’s match was called off, and Knutsford also won today.
Team: Brett Walker, Matt Murray, Chris Pheiffer(Capt), Craig Ward, Chris Jump, Neil Murray, Danny Jarrett(Returning from Nantwich), Mike Cartner, Leon Williams, Andy Hurst, Danny McNamara, Subs: Alex Lowe, Will Hurley and Kenny Brady
They are at home again next Saturday against Styal FC with a 2-15pm Kick off, so if your not going to Blyth, please come and support them
Cheers Len for the report, it was a strange game with Daten giving a decent account of themselves, they are better than their position suggests. Still three points where secured hopefully we can carry it on again next week. (Good to see you back on the terraces Len).
