Anyone not travelling to Stamford on Saturday might want to watch the reserves against Middlewich at Moss Fram with a 2pm kick off
They will go above Middlewich in the league if they beat them
From Cheshire League website. looks like Neil Gill’s lads again put up a great fight against Murph’s men.
"[i]Witton Albion Reserves and Middlewich Town battled it out in a close encounter which saw Mike Brandon put the away side ahead early on in the game when he tapped the ball cleverly past the Witton ‘keeper. Witton responded quickly and were soon back in the game when Tim Drohan found the net with a set piece free kick in the 20th minute. Some poor defending left Middlewich exposed at the back, allowing Drohan through to put Witton 2-1 up just before the half time break.
Middlewich came out fighting in the second half and Steve Warburton let fly with a low shot, which deflected into the goal off the ‘keeper on the near post. The winning goal came from an impressive run down the left wing from Mike Brandon, he then crossed into the box, which was smashed home by Andy Whitney to see Middlewich win 3-2."[/i]
This coming Saturday they are away to Gamesley ko 2pm
