Reserves v Middlewich

The reserves put up a great performance today at Middlewich, finally going out of the cup on penalties
Middlewich came out strong for the first 20 minutes and after the lads weathered that they more than matched them, taking the lead with a superb overhead kick by Lewis James, and they played some good passing football until in the second half some slack marking from a set piece allowed Middlewich to slip one in from the far post.
It then went to extra time in which were the stronger team and were fitter than them.
Penalties then came and Middlewichs experience finally told when they scored 5 well taken penalties and we scored the first 2 and then missed one.
A couple of funny things happened at the match, Both involving JV, who had been out all day helping the junior teams this morning and also the reserves this afternoon
1st He drew the raffle ticket out of the tin and his number came out
2nd He was having some banter with the the linesman who finally cracked and told JV to "Go and F*** yourself
Well played to the lads and Manager

Did we play them twice on Saturday cos this is the report that’s on the official Cheshire League site.

League champions Middlewich Town put on a show for their supporters at Seddon Street as they took part in an eight goal thriller with Witton Albion Reserves. Both sides impressed on the day and the game could have gone either way, but it was Middlewich who claimed the victory as they won 5-3.

I’ve already e-mailed their Press Officer, pointing out the actual sequence of events, from Len’s posting.
