Witton Albion Res Vs Fleetwood Town Res Monday 2nd April 2012

7:45pm kick off

This is the teams LAST home game of the season, so as much support as possible would be appreciated by the team and myself.

Saw most of the game, the lads worked really hard against what I understand was a team of full time professionals. My only criticism of the team was they invariably looked for a “killer” pass much too early and as a consequence lost possession very easily putting themselves under continual pressure.

With Fleetwood having 12 Full Time pro’s in the squad of 14 on the night. Myself and graham knew it would be a tough match & from speaking to their manager the use of Fleetwood reserves is used mostly as punishment to the first team, total different to what our club & our reserve team is all about.

The young Albion team held the Fleetwood league 2 bound team for the first 30 minutes till time took tole on our team for us to make simple & silly mistakes which lead to Fleetwood’s first 3 goals leading into halftime. Without theses mistakes we could of easily gone in at half time 0-0 with the Full Time Pro’s or even leading after a couple of chances ourselves hitting the post & cross bar before the break.

The second half we didn’t get started the way we liked being on the back foot most of the time with Fleetwood having most of the ball & with our side tiring from the great effort & commitment throughout the game. It soon was shown the level between the two clubs of Witton & the league 2 bound Fleetwood.

Full time Witton 0-9 Fleetwood.

The result (again) isn’t a fair reflection on how the team played and conducted themselves, with praise coming from both the match referee and the Fleetwood management and senior players. With each game there is a lesson & this game was a big lesson for our players, myself & graham. Our lads took alot from this game & are able to make themselves better players to know what is needed to reach the level of Fleetwood’s team and most important what is needed to get into OUR first team.

Our last game is away to AFC Fylde Res 14th April 2pm KO

Onwards & upwards

Manager

No real criticism intended Shaun, it was obvious that Fleetwood were no ordinary reserve team. No problem with the effort shown by your lads and in the end that is all you can ask.
