Rule Changes

Yanks should stick to American Football!!

for me football just about perfect after the passback rule was brought in and before the offside rule was brought in, good strong tackles were allowed sendings off and bookings were rare because refs and rules had common sense which made football what it is as others have said keep it simple.

I still feel that ball players don’t get enough protection from some of the more blatant fouls, I think bad fouls deserve longer suspensions than they get at the moment. Some players should not be allowed out never mind on a football field.

Totally agree WHS. Far more serious than a bit of petulance here and there but time after time players don’t get punished enough. After all its too late when someones leg is broken! SBL

[quote=“WHS” post=40784]Make keepers take goal kicks from the side the ball went out on, all they do now is waste time. I would also like to see the “Sin Bin” introduced, seems unfair to me that a man committing a foul is not punished in the game he did it in, but gets a suspension probably months later after getting more yellow cards.

I suggested about 15 years ago the introduction of sin-bins. In other sports that do use them, critisism tends to get aimed at the player sin-binned for letting his side down, rather than at the referee. I actually wrote a paper on the subject, which was considered and recommended by the MCDFA, and even the CFA, but did not get as far as the FA. It even got discussed on air by Cheshire FM.

The big advantage is, as WHS mentions, the team that is offended against claims the benefit of the sin-bin in the match that the offence takes place.

SIMPLES!!!
