Saturday afternoon sees Witton begin a run of three successive away games to complete the Pre Season programme. The first of those three games takes Witton to Runcorn Linnets, who have progressed upto the Evo-Stik League following their excellent season, culminating in being crowned HallmarkSecurity League Premier Division Champions in 2017/18. A season which also marked the centenary of the forming of the original Linnets. The bond between the two clubs has been apparent since Runcorn shared the Wincham Park Stadium before re locating back home to their new Millbank Linnets Stadium. The summer wasn’t without its difficulties with manager Michael Ellison and his staff reportedly walking away, only to return shortly afterwards. Saturday’s game is The Linnets final pre season friendly before the real thing gets underway with an Emirates FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round tie away at Yorkshire side Hallam FC. Witton will go into the game buoyed by successive wins particularly against Vanarama League North Curzon Ashton in midweek, a performance reportedly the best of the campaign so far. Runcorn always provide tough opposition no matter what the competition is and this game will not be any different. Kick off at The Millbank Linnets Stadium is 3pm.
