Saw the following on the Unibond website…
The Macron “Safe Hands” awards for December have been won by Fleetwood Town’s Mike Hale (Witton’s Jon Kennedy had the best record in the top flight but has already won a pair of gloves and is ineligible to win a second pair), Ryan McMahon (Skelmersdale United) took the First Division North prize whilst the First Division South award went to Grantham Town’s Mario Ziccardi.
So JK was the best keeper in the league but because he has been best before he can’t win the award, which is a pair of gloves (WOW)! He must be gutted! If Hale and Kennedy are the best two keepers next month it will then go to the third best!!! What a load of rubbish, who created the rules for this? If you are ‘Club of the Month’ you can win that more than once!
JK can only win one pair of gloves but he is looking good for a trip to Italy!!!
Macron "Safe Hands" Award 07/10/2007
Goalkeeping trio Jon Kennedy of Witton Albion, Bamber Bridge’s Terry McCormick and Nantwich Town’s Rob Hackney are the first recipients of the UniBond League’s new monthly “Safe Hands” awards sponsored by Macron who supply kit and training gear to over half of the League’s member clubs.
The combined August / September winners will each receive a pair of top of the range goalkeeping gloves courtesy of Macron, the League’s preferred kit supplier. But ‘keepers around the League will be looking at capturing the seasonal prize for the goalkeeper with the best record over all three Divisions as whoever wins it will enjoy a week, all expenses paid, next pre-season with an Italian La Liga club sponsored by Macron. The overall season winner must be with a UniBond League on the last day of the season and must have been registered for at least three months. The monthly prizes, however, will be based on the number of clean sheets kept by a goalkeeper with only league games taken in to account with goals against taken in to account in the event of a tie. The monthly prize can only be won once by any one goalkeeper in the season.
