Salford City

Salford City I see from recent press that as well as being top of the Unibond north and having millionaire ex united players as owners they now have a 50 percent owner in BILLIONAIRE Peter Lim from Singapore ! So next season a promotion place for the Albs will be limited unless we hope to have a Russian Oligarch sponsor any time soon to compete ?

This is as mad as the Sheikh buying Man City. What on earth do they think they can get from buying Salford City? No one goes to watch the Rugby League club in Salford and they have been in the top level for years, who the hell is going to stop going to watch Man U, Man City, FC Uniited, Altrincham etc to go to Salford City? What on earth do the 100 or so actual Salford City fans think about this? A few good years then bankrupt. Is that OK? The world has gone utterly bonkers and the FA are laughing their heads off while the game falls apart at every level. Shit the bed, I cannot catch my breath…

And what is Witton’s reward for paying the bills and running loads of junior teams and working with the community and promoting football locally and supporting a netball team? We get to finish mid table every year if we are lucky. What is the effing point? Excuse my language…

Everyone moans when premier league players put nothing back into the game, now some have and everyone moans.
Their attendances were 60-80 a few years ago now they’re getting over 400. That’s more than we get! There will always be clubs with money because someone is willing to give it a go. This season is arguably the best chance to get promoted to the conf north as there isn’t a team with a huge budget. It’s also arguable that we couldn’t compete with Runcorn or Trafford and they are both smaller clubs than ourselves. Winning is great but there is much more to supporting a football club than that. You enjoy the highs endure the lows but always live in hope that maybe just maybe your club has good season.

The point is that we all love the club and we will never see it die. Ok we may never have the success that others with bags of cash may do but you cant buy history and a love for a club- a fact that some of these owners fail to grasp and a reason why it often goes pear shaped for them ultimately.
