Sandbach United vs Witton Albion (CSC Prelim).

Witton travel to Hallmark Security League Division One side Sandbach United in the Cheshire Senior Cup Preliminary Round on Wednesday night. The club were born of a merger between two clubs, Sandbach Ramblers and Sandbach Albion in 2004 and have progressed to their present status in a steady manner. Their facilities are state of the art with a number of pitches, both grass and artificial and play a major role in the local community bringing clubs from school football right through to senior level. The facilities currently have around 40 teams of all ages making use of them. The senior club have made an impressive start to the season, currently occupying a top six place in the division so will give Witton a real test, in what is likely to have been their biggest game in quite a while. Cup football has a habit of throwing up big upsets but despite having more pressing engagements ahead of them, Witton will want to make sure that they don’t become the casualty of one of them. The fixture also marks the official unveiling of the new floodlights at the club which have recently been installed. Kick off at Sandbach Community Football Centre is 7.45pm.

One to keep an eye on tonight, Sandbach forward Daniel Bartle who already has 16 goals to his name this season. Another player amongst their ranks is former Witton striker Dereece Gardner.

Surely we are sending the Development team and reserves?

The competition rules state that the club must be represented by it’s strongest team available. The club would be fined if they fail to do this. Stated on the Cheshire FA website.

Had an email from Jeff Metcalf who has been in contact with Sandbach United 's Secretary and as of 3.15pm on Wednesday afternoon, the pitch at Sandbach is fine and playable at the moment.

Not very well again, so not going tonight, writing this in bed!1

It will be interesting to see the teams Crewe Alex and Macclesfield put out at Winsford and Stockport Town then.
