Witton’s Youth team take a break from league action on Wednesday night when they take on Sandbach United in the FA Youth Cup Preliminary Round. Although the youngsters play all their “home” games at the Community Football Centre, they are the designated “away” team for the purposes of this game. Their league form so far this season has been good, the last two league games seeing the team score eight goals in successive victories. The winners of the tie are to meet the winners of the Ashton Athletic or Prescot Cables fixture scheduled to be played in a fortnight’s time at home. Should tonight’s tie be drawn after normal time, a period of extra time will be played and then if scores are still level, the tie will be decided on penalties. Kick off at Sandbach Community Football Centre is 7.30pm.
