This was probably the best performance of the season and the reserves were unlucky not to take all three points against one of the leagues top teams. Pilkington started well and looked quite dangerous early on forcing a few corners which caused some anxious moments however Witton played there way into the game and totally dominated from then on. Only some great saves from the Pilkington keeper kept the scoreline blank and with a little more composure in front of goal Witton would have turned all their pressure into goals.
Wittons keeper was mainly a spectator in the second half but had to be on his toes to parry away a drive in the latter stages of the game, even after that Witton created a number of chances and only last ditch tackles and the woodwork kept them out.
With a cup tie coming next at Woodley the players should be full of confidence for the remainder of the season and more performances like this will see them climb the table.
