Sat 5/4/07 RESERVES V GREENALLS PADGATE

This was the reserves final game of the season against Greenalls who could still finish up runners-up if they won and Knutsford lost.
Witton started nervously as Greenalls tried to impose a physical presence on their opponents but once Witton settled and started to find their passing game they got to grips with the game and were starting to create the better chances and both Rob Magee and Kurtis Gill were unlucky not to see their efforts hit the net.
After some neat play in midfield Tim Drohan broke clear and was brought down in the box which resulted in a penalty and a sending off for the last defender. Tim stepped up and converted the spot kick to put Witton in front just before half-time.
Greenalls came out in the second half determined to give thereselves a chance of runners-up spot by piling the pressure on and only two magnificent saves from Martin Flanagan kept Witton in front. Witton were still dangerous and creating chances and only some excellent saves from Greenalls keeper kept Witton from extending their lead. However a corner from the left caused havoc in the Witton defence and the ball was bundled home for the equaliser, this seemed to give Greenalls hope and they tried to get the winner but a good defensive performance saw Witton take a deserved share of the points and a bit unlucky not to take all three points.
