Witton take a break from league matters on Saturday afternoon when the travel to Scarborough Athletic in the Emirates FA Challenge Cup First Qualifying Round.
Believe it or not, this is the first time that the two sides have ever been drawn together in the FA’s premier competition even under the guise of the original Scarborough club.
However, the two did play each other in the FA Trophy First Round back in the 1970/71 season with the Yorkshire side winning 3-0 in a replay after a goalless draw at the Central Ground.
Then we were due to meet Scarborough Athletic of course, in last season’s FA Trophy but following the Seadogs withdrawal due to Covid, Witton went on to beat Bamber Bridge before losing to Nantwich Town.
The game could be of welcome benefit to Albion as they can forget about their current position in the league for day or so atleast and hopefully, progress in the competition which could also help to build a bit of momentum towards future games.
Scarborough Athletic will be looking to progress also but Witton will not make things easy for them so a difficult test could be in prospect.
Kick off at Flamingo Land Stadium is 3pm.
