Witton Albion FC 2015-16.
Backroom Staff.
Wayne Brotherton – Assistant Manager.
Wayne has been with Scott for the last 7-8 seasons, first as players and then when Scott took over has Norton manager 4 years ago Wayne captained the side to promotion and a league cup win. Over the past two seasons Scott and Wayne have been working very closely as 1st and 2nd team managers at Norton and following Steve Chadwick’s unfortunate job change Scott saw Wayne as the obvious choice to become his assistant manager at Witton.
Andy O’Conner – 1st Team Coach.
Andy is an extremely talented coach, with a wealth of experience at many levels of the game, his record of success speaks volumes for his qualities.
Andy’s playing career took in clubs such as West Bromwich Albion, Shrewsbury Town, Macclesfield town, Leek Town and Buxton before taking up the coaching pathway at 29
In twenty years of coaching Andy has coached on different levels of the pyramid in order to enhance his experiences and during that time he has coached teams to;
6 promotions
3 League cup successes
2 County cup successes
Throughout his coaching career Andy has had the reputation for producing sides that play the game in the right way by playing a fluent passing style that’s easy on the eye and entertaining. Throughout his coaching career Andy has been fortunate to be mentored by John Stephenson who was Head of football operations at Reading, Celtic, Watford, where he employed Andy, and Sheffield United and Andy has sponged every bit of information he can from John and still does.
Away from football Andy is a teacher in a SEN school in Newcastle working with severely disabled (PMLD) children and lists this as the best job in the world so much so that he once turned down a full time role at Watford to continue his journey with these very special children.
Richard Smith – 1st Team Player/Coach.
Richard again has been with Scott for the past 5-6 seasons Richard actually took over from Wayne as the captain at Norton when Wayne moved into management. He led the team from the NWCFL to the Evo-Stik Div 1 South and was also very instrumental in the club reaching the first round of the F.A Cup. Richard as already won the league we now find ourselves in with Nantwich Town and then narrowly missed out on a successive back to back promotion losing in the play-off final his experience will be invaluable and he is very much looking forward to working with and learning from Andy. On the playing side Richard still has a couple more seasons in the tank. He is a very composed centre half and reads the game very well whilst at Norton he played a total of 179 out of 210 games and scored 33 goals two of which won him back to back goal of the season awards.
Andy Ratcliffe – Goalkeeping Coach.
Andy Ratcliffe played in goals for Alsager Town, Kidsgrove Athletic, Nantwich Town and Eccleshall.
From 1997 he has managed and coached all age groups from u10’s to adult teams. He gained his 1st coaching badge in 1997 then progressed to gaining the full UEFA ‘B’ licence. In the past 10 years Andy has been Assistant manager at Leek Town in the then Unibond Premier then onto Congleton Town 1st team coach for 2 seasons before returning back to management. The club believes that at this level a goal keeping coach is extremely important and Andy can’t wait to get started with the keepers.
Dave Hamnett – 1st Team Scout.
Scott believes Dave does one of the most important jobs at a football club. Not only is Dave scouting around looking at the next good crop of young players he travels up and down the country looking at our next opponents and giving an overall report on his findings. To have somebody at our level who is prepared to do this type of work is a very big bonus to Witton Albion FC.
Alan Chesworth - 1st Team Physio.
Scott is very pleased that Alan is continuing at the club and really hopes that Alan doesn’t have to endure the same amount of injuries that he had to cope with last season. Alan with be supported by Lauren Dawson.
Paul Houghton – Kit Manager.
Paul aka (square) travels with Scott and his team from Norton. Scott explains that he is a great asset to have around the place and I’m sure you will all hear him.
Paul Ogden – Head of Recruitment.
No introduction needed with this great man. Very highly thought of by Scott and as seen with the recent signings the pair really work well together. With Paul’s extensive knowledge both on and off the pitch it can only help the current management team and we are very pleased to have him back involved at Witton Albion FC.
Terry Murphy – Witton Albion Scout.
Terry will continue to do everything and anything for the good of Witton Albion. He has already alerted Scott to some good local talent and will be helping out the management team throughout the season.
