Season so far

Our playing record for Season 2016/17 upto and including 5/11/2016. (League & Cup).

Played 19 Won 12 Drawn 4 Lost 3 Goals For 44 Goals Against 20.

Thanks Wheels for those stats. Would be interesting comparing them with last three or twenty three seasons, imagine that they would be better than most. Hopefully if we can carry them on for the rest of the season we should avoid relegation. :silly:

I was looking into part of that but didn’t get very far. I’ve started to do a comparison with last season and the furthest I’ve got so far is that we lost three of the first seven games of the 2015/16 season. Will work on the rest then post on here.

Playing Record for Season 2016/17 - upto and including 28/1/17. (League & Cup).

Played 34 Won 21 Drawn 7 Lost 6 Goals For 78 Goals Against 43.

The figures include the Cheshire Senior Cup win against Sandbach United on Penalties. (Not the penalties).

Do you have the stats just for league games this season?

Playing Record for Season 2016/17 - upto and including 28/1/17. (League only).

Played 20 Won 14 Drawn 3 Lost 3 Goals For 48 Goals Against 19.

Looks like a good season so far to me, ONWARD AND UPWARDS!! I great finish will help the sales of the book on the history of the club. (All profits to the club.)

Well, the season has drawn to a close and what a fantastic season it has been. It all began at Stamford in August, an opening day victory marred by a horrific injury to Cameron Dalton. It ended with a massive prize - promotion where we pushed Shaw Lane all the way and very nearly caught them. Only five defeats in 42 league games, 100 league goals scored and four players in double figures. On top of that, excellent cup runs to boot. What a season indeed. Well done everyone at Witton Albion you’ve done us proud

Just how many goalkeepers DID we use!!

At a guess, I would say 7

We used 8

Got to be a record!! Note to our players. The grass may seem greener elsewhere but unless it is a BIG step up , the Conference or better, you will be better off staying with us, you won’t find a better club for looking after the players.

There was an article from Phil in Saturday’s programme detailing the various records that have been broken this season. Well worth a read.

& a quick thank you to MB for an excellent season’s programmes.

Totally agree with WHS regarding the grass being greener. I don’t want to stand in the way of any of our lads if it means them progressing but no point in going to another premier league club or even Conference North for that matter. The point is they are playing under one of the top six managers and coaches in non league football which means playing for them for another season will further improve your game if your a youngish player. That means you might impress a league club and you’d be more ready for it. We’ve seen what can happen to fantastic players who go off and then don’t seem to progress. I’m thinking of that fantastic player Alex Titchener and I’m glad to see Alex is now doing well at his business venture.

Not only that MONA we have a history of never standing in the way of players and not asking stupid fees that put higher class teams off. We look after you, are you sure another club will?
