The Northern Premier League has today received notice from Shaw Lane AFC of their withdrawal from the league.
Sadly, the email on Friday 8 June 2018 advises that the club is to disband.
The EVO-STIK League is currently liaising with the Football Association from whom a further announcement will be made in due course regarding club movements within the National League System as a result of the withdrawal of Shaw Lane AFC.
The league will not be making any further statement on the matter until further notice.
Hednesford Town have been advised that they will now remain in the Evo-Stik Premier Division and their place in the Central League being allocated to Banbury.
However, The Pitmen intend to appeal the decision so watch this space.
I can understand Hednesford appealing, as they are not the most northern side. If you go by GPS coordinates, Hednesford are North 52.697352. Coalville Town are further north on 52.723028, and the most north is Kings Lynn on 52.750341.
Has anybody heard the result of Hednesford’s appeal yet? My hunch is that they will win their appeal, and Kings Lynn will join us instead.
The appeal is being heard by the FA next Monday 2nd July.
Well I got that one wrong. Hednesford’s appeal was thrown out, and they stay in our league.
