Witton return to Evo-Stik League action on Saturday when they travel to Sheffield FC in a Division One South fixture. Sheffield were formed in 1857 by two men who wrote the rules for a new game and football was born. They club have played at a number of grounds around Sheffield since their formation, they even had a brief spell at Hillsborough. They moved from their previous home of The Don Valley Stadium in 2001 to their present home in Dronfield, which they purchased and was the home of another local club Norton Woodseats. The current campaign hasn’t got off to the best of starts for them as they are struggling near the bottom of the table having lost both of their opening league fixtures. They did however, progress in the Emirates FA Challenge Cup last weekend winning 2-1 away at Ramsbottom. Despite their lowly position, Sheffield will provide Witton with a tough examination and Witton will need to work for a result. Kick off at The “Coach & Horses” Ground is 3pm.
