Skelmersdale United v. Witton Albion Academy

Witton’s Academy team are in action again on Thursday afternoon when they take their unblemished record to Skelmersdale United in an ESPFA Northern Division fixture.

The day is an emotional occasion for everyone connected to Witton Albion as Academy Coach Martyn Irvine takes charge of the team for the final time before stepping down and moving on.

His tenure over two and a half years has seen the team progress to the stage where they are in prime position to be crowned Northern Division Champions but, there are still a number of games to be played before that aim to be realised.

Progress to the Second Qualifying Round of the FA Youth Cup has also been achieved during the current season.

Witton’s opponents Skelmersdale United had also made an excellent start to the season before losing their unbeaten run last week at the hands of last season’s Northern Division Champions Runcorn Linnets.

Witton face a difficult game in West Lancashire but they have overcome everything that has confronted them so far and they face another challenge, but with the right application can achieve the right result.

Kick off is 12pm.
