One up, Cameron Fogarty, 36 minutes :ball_goal:

Penalty miss for Albion with 5 minutes to go. Hope it’s not costly!

Three points to the Albion courtesy of Cameron Fogerty’s first half goal. Well done lads .

Much needed 3 points. Could have been a lot more. First half we were excellent. Second half they came back into it but thought we managed the game well.
Less said about the penalty the better.

Another great performance from Witton. We looked more solid today my MOM Cameron, he should shoot more he would get more goals his work rate is fantastic.

At last we have a clean sheet, very important 3 points on a plastic pitch.

Good to be on the right end of a one goal margin for a change!

Positives:

  • a well taken goal from Fogerty following a laser-guided diagonal ball from Barrow.
  • keeping a clean sheet.
  • promising debut from Hughes, who has quick feet and looks like he has some goals in him.

Negatives:

  • missed chances, including the penalty.
  • the injury to Barrow; we definitely came under more pressure once he had to go off. Hope he’s fit for the next game.
  • the referee who was poor for both sides.
  • the facilities - no clubhouse, only cup- a soup and pot noodles available as hot food, no cover except for a very low seating area (thank goodness it was a dry afternoon) and another plastic pitch. This one didn’t bounce as much as the one at Widnes, but the ball didn’t seem to roll properly on it. I know circumstances have forced Skem to play there this season, but I hope they achieve their ambition of returning to their previous ground next season.

Yes a good overall performance and vital win. I quite liked the starting 4 3 3, looked pretty good and suited the players we have. The astro was a leveller you could see they were more comfortable with the bounce and control, but we created enough chances to win this by 3 or 4 goals.

Hughes header, missed pen and Duckworth’s sitter put wide. Hope Barrow’s injury is not too serious we looked more ragged when he went off. UTA

And interestingly we win our game in hand and we are only 1 point behind the high flying fake Vics!
