Sometimes players try too hard and frustration kicks in and it gives the impression that they are not trying at all. Can’t believe that any player does not try 1
Tens of thousands of Utd fans think that Berbatov does not try all the time. Funny how so many people can be wrong !
One of the main reasons I think Roy should go is benching Lucas for Poulsen. insane.
Lucas has been not only improving but actually consistently good.
From the Manchester United FC Forum;
I do not want to sound pessimistic, but Rio in the past had his fair share of problems…
Having said that, he is definitely a better player than the over-rated Terry
Go on to any football forum for any club and you will get a swell of divided opinions, indeed for forums to be successful in terms of volume you rely on this being the case.
Take the above two posts; I think Lucas at Liverpool is s*** and despite supporting United I think Terry may well be a better centre half than Rio. So there are two I disagree with for starters!
Regards the previous comments about players and lack of pace, it didn’t do Teddy ‘signed for Man Utd and he won it all’ Sheringham any harm during his career. He held the ball up, knocked it out to the wing and got in the box to finish it off. Mark Hughes did the same. Whilst we are playing a few levels below it’s a system that is highly effective when played well.
OK WE’VE LOST 2 GAMES AGAINST THE BETTER TEAMS IN THIS LEAGUE, BUT THE FACT IS WE ARE ON A LIMITED BUDGET. THE PLAYERS IN THE MAIN ARE GIVING THEIR ALL, SO DON’T KNOCK THEM, THEY ARE DOING THEIR BEST, AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO IF YOU JUST GIVE THEM YOUR SUPPORT.I DO THINK THEY ARE PUTTING ALL THEIR EFFORT INTO THEIR PERFORMANCES. A SPECIAL REFERANCE TO STOTTY, HOW MANY TIMES HAVE YOU SEEN HIM TRY TO CHASE DOWN A SEEMINGLY IMPOSSIBLE BALL.SO LET’S GET BEHIND THE TEAM AND CHEER THEM ON TO ANOTHER WINNING RUN. COME ON THE ALBION.
Its too easy to come up with the justification that “its all about opinions” or “IMO”, there has to be some responsibility too. Would you make the comment directly to the player concerned and say it in the way that its expressed on this message board? In many cases, I suspect not. If that’s true then you shouldn’t express the comment, or do it in a different way. Just my opinion.
It was noticable after Andy Kinsey scored the 4th goal against Warrington last night, he ran straight over to the small bunch of Witton fans and shouted “that’s not bad for somebody who has had it”
Players do read the forum, and with football being partly a confidence game, we should think twice before singleing out individuals to slag off. Encouragement, most of the time, works far better.
I think any footballer should be the first to realise when he has had a bad game, when he hasn’t put in the required workrate etc. If they read such criticism on here, then it should rarely come as a surprise.
When we get beat 6 - 1, then any player who can’t take a bit of criticism on the back of that shouldn’t be playing for Witton. The first thing those 14 players should have done at the final whistle in acknowledge that it wasn’t good enough.
They have gone out and put it right last night, which shows character.
Sometimes we are guilty of criticising when it is undeserved (the Jim Vince team used to get heavy criticism if they didn’t score more than 4 goals for example!!), but Saturday wasn’t acceptable, and each of us who travelled to watch it has a right to vent our spleen. It’s done and dusted now though, so together we all move on.
I don’t think there is any doubt that anyone who travelled to the game would be gutted by the result and would want to express their feelings. However this can be done without the public humiliation of individuals on a forum under the guise of “opinion”. Some individuals need to think about what they say and how they say it. Think about how you would feel if every time you had a bad day at work it was examined in every detail by all your colleagues. As a collegue you would try to be supportive of those struggling and also expect your managers to take action. Is there a difference really?
OK - I’m off my soap box - roll on Saturday and good luck everyone!
Thought this was put to bed now - but it is better to vent your spleen on here because this after all is a forum by the fans for the fans. If the people who run this site think we are going too far then by all means stop us. Some fans were hurling abuse at the team from the terraces on saturday by the way - no one seems to have mentioned that. When we play well and win I am sure players look on here to see what praise we are giving them ?
Where’s the ‘public humiliation’ and ‘unthoughtful slagging’ that’s being suggested. The performance was bad and people passed their opinions.
Seriously, if you gift the opposition four goals and give such a display then is the expectation that fans say ‘unlucky lads, we know you were trying really hard, never mind the result, try a bit harder next time’!
If you play a professional sport, write a book, perform a in theatre show or anything else then you face criticism for bad performances and praise for good ones. The rough comes with the smooth. If you read the posts on this forum then you’ll see how little criticism the team received for losing at home to Chester, the difference being that effort levels were excellent and they performed to the best of their ability. Last Saturday they didn’t perform to the best of their ability, does anyone truly disagree with that?
This in an article by a respected professional national journalist. There will have been hundreds of articles written after England’s performance on Tuesday night, most of them critical rather than motivational!
Quickly beginning to think that WHS has the best idea by not posting.
Is everyone entitled to put their opinion on here - YES
Does it help the team on and off the field when they are publically criticized on here - NO
Typical after a tremendous run of results that the one really poor game pulls in most response.
I personally will be SUPPORTING the team at the next game, I won’t be pulling any of the youngsters apart if they have a bad game, I won’t be telling them they are not good enough because they didn’t have the pace to run past defenders, I won’t be booing despite having paid my money to get in and I will again shake board members and management hands after the game and thanking them that I have a team to watch every week.
