Someone's Having A Laugh!!

Well this has finally given me something to take my mind off the title race!! Apart from the fact that i thought we were severing all ties with SponsorLink, i can’t believe that anyone would use that Website as an example for others to follow!!

This bit especially sticks in the throat;

the seminar will see the UniBond Premier League club boss chart the clubs ascent from near-bankruptcy a decade ago to its current position at the top of the league - and the role played in that recovery by the clubs website.

The website isn’t even finished yet!!! And what part has it played in the Clubs recovery?!

WHAT A JOKE!!!

I have to agree, don’t recall the website doing much for the club in fact there is very little information on it.

“And what part has it played in the Clubs recovery?!”

The club are required to have an “official site” I think (?)
We get extra revenue from advertising.
It’s a central location for up to date results
It provides a fantastic service by showing video of games and interviews
The seminar itself will provide income and raise the profile of our club
Even the article you diss, is advertising our club

Don’t knock it!

Erm, no. The article is advertising SponsorLink, a company who have been associated with Witton for less than 12 months - a period in which the Club has finally started to reap the benefit of years and years of hard work put in by the likes of Phil Chadwick and Neil Wilson to name but 2. SponsorLink have played no part in this what-so-ever!! To even suggest that they have is very very disrespectful to those hard-working Witton fans who have given so much to this CLub over the last decade.

No part whatsoever? How about £1022?

I don’t think anyone for one minute is suggesting that they are solely responsible for our position. As the article says, you should attend the seminar and see what role SponsorLink had in the recovery. Then you will find out exactly what MW has to say and I guarantee he will put the recovery down to a number of factors, including volunteer help. So in no way do I see this as disrespectful.

Pretty simple.

£1022 for 12 months paid work compared to £11,000 raised by the Witton fans involved with the development fund in the same period??

If SponsorLink have done so much, then why was Wayne Peach asked to become Commercial Manager, why has a new Commercial Manager recently been appointed? Would this not equate to 2 sets of individuals selling advertising space for the same football club?? And if both are working so well then why aren’t we paying higher wages out?! Why has GE been involved in setting up the Commercial Work-Party to try and reduce the commercial short-fall?

Come on Eddie!! You’re right, it IS pretty simple really.

If you re-read my earlier post, i stated that SponsorLink played no part in anything PRIOR TO the last 12 months.

Not going to prolong this, because you obviously have an issue here. All I would say is every £1 generated for the benefit of WAFC should be welcomed.

My issue is with the suggestion that SponorLink played ANY part in the Club’s salvation from near-bankruptcy.

If we’re going to mention websites and the help that they have given the club then I think it would be pretty ignorant to ignore this one! This forum has helped communication throughout the club and has no doubt helped with the generation of money through promotion etc. This forum/site is the first place you come to if you want the latest news etc on the club. The only use that the ‘official’ website has is to watch the goals from the previous game!

You’ve hit the nail firmly on the head! Even trying to watch the videos is tricky as they don’t load up first time around…

Good point Richard - thought it was only me that had that problem.

It takes me a good 7 or 8 go’s at it before it’ll finally load up and play:angry:

I have a friend that does website design and he found it a complete joke, he found a number of problems with it. Some are really basic and anyone half decent would be able to fix in about 10 seconds. I only use the page for the goals and find it a good service but come on sponsor link lets fix these problems before we promote the page.

I gave up on the official one ages ago and just stick to Forum.
Having trawled through other club Forums I can safely say we have the best.
The official web site is a joke.

Wonder whether the fans of at least Bradford Park Avenue, Winsford United & Stocksbridge PS feel they are getting a decent service from the same (poor on the surface) similar laid out website.

WHAT A JOKE!!![/quote]

What a completely stupid article, the £1,022 handed over has done nothing other than ‘pay’ for the press release and our association with the so called seminar. Best practice my a**e! With the greatest respect to Mike he has done many good things for our club however this relationship is not one of them!

Bradford PA dispensed with the services of the said company mid way through the season, I have to agree with Robbo, I don’t recall this company being involved in meetings at all times of the day and night when the club was trying to negotiate a deal with the administrators. It is true that they have only been around for around two years, remember Benny was working for them and the club selling advertsing, I think they were responsible for the Commercial operation, but made a mess of it.

I was offered the opportunity to advertise on the sight, £400 per year I was quoted, not worth it would rather put my money in to the club in other ways.

Yes well, where can you start with that one. Probably best I don’t!

All I can say is there are a lot of people to thank for the club still being here - 1 of them is Mike not anyone who ran the official site - which at the time was run by Mike Turner then myself and Debbie - I do feel we deserve the credit though!

£1000 - whilst useful no doubt was it since March? and at what % of income was it?
There are many other groups who have raised and even donated much more than this over the season without taking a cut and aren;t paid professionals supposedly working for the club. They should be getting the credit not these people.
