The Mariners have parted company with manager Graham Fenton.
Shields are currently third in the table, five points behind leaders Matlock Town with a game in hand.
South Shields have appointed former Watford, Sunderland, Southampton, West Bromwich Albion, Leicester City, Birmingham City, Blackpool, Crystal Palace & Aston Villa striker Kevin Phillips as manager after sacking Graham Fenton.
He’s also held coaching positions at Leicester City, Derby County & Stoke City.
His first home game for Shields will be against Witton on 25th January, a great incentive for Witton lads as I’m guessing there will be an even bigger crowd than usual at South Shields that night.
