Witton make their longest journey of the season on Saturday as they travel to promotion rivals Spalding United in an Evo-Stik Division One South fixture. The Tulips have had an excellent season so far and are in a strong position to make the play offs, aided by joint leading scorer in the division Bradley Wells who has hit the target 20 times already this campaign. The club suffered a blow recently though when manager Dave Frecklington decided to take the post at Gainsborough Trinity but his assistant Chris Rawlinson has now taken up the mantle and not a lot has changed. The results have still come for them, apart from the defeat to leaders Shaw Lane but that with several players missing for various reasons. The fixture is the second visit to Spalding for Witton, who began their other spell in the south with a trip on the opening day of the 2009/10 season and came home with three points and a 6-0 win. It looks as though things are likely to be a lot closer this time around although you never know. Witton will be looking to continue putting pressure on Shaw Lane incase of any slip ups and hopefully take advantage of it but there are still lots of things to happen between now and the end of the season. Spalding are still involved and will be pushing all the way to see what happens and can’t be ruled out yet. Kick off at The Sir Halley Stewart Field is 3pm.
