Sponsored Weight-Loss

Following a brief conversation between myself and the chairman of Witton Albion Football Club, in order to help raise much-needed funds for the club I am undertaking a Sponsored Weight-Loss over a period of three months. The venture would start from Wednesday, 9th February and run until the end of the current season. I am doing this with full medical support from Leighton Hospital, following an appointment I had with them earlier this week.

There are two reasons for this: I need to lose weight for medical & health reasons. At the same time, I am looking to raise funds for our football club. This has the total support of the chairman and I would appreciate sponsors from within the supporters, players & officials in order to achieve this.

The idea of a time period rather than setting a target weight, means that it would not drag on unnecessarily although the weight-loss programme would continue beyond the stipulated time.

I am due back at the hospital in six weeks time and will get an update on my progress which hopefully, will be positive.

Anyone wishing to sponsor me can either see me at the match tomorrow or pm me on here and I thank you sincerely for your support in this.

I will have sponsorship forms available within the next week.

Nice one Derek! Wish you all the best with your aims.

I’ve sent you a pm with regards sponsorship. Let me know if you don’t receive it, as I had a bit of trouble sending it.

A brief update on my Sponsored Weight-Loss.

My most sincere thanks to everyone who have already sponsored me and for those who haven’t but would still like to, there’s plenty of time. With the sponsors already obtained, because they are giving donations to the cause the money is guaranteed and already the amount is nearing £300.

Many thanks once again to everyone for your generosity and your support, it is very much appreciated.

Sponsored Weight-Loss Update.

Following an appointment earlier today at Leighton Hospital with the dietitian, I can now update everyone that the outcome of today’s visit is a positive one. The weight is coming off slowly although I feel a little disappointed that I haven’t achieved more so far.
Nevertheless, it is a positive sign that the weight is coming off and still not finished yet. As my next appointment is due on Friday, 5th May I propose to continue with the fund-raising effort until that time and would appreciate more sponsors to support the cause.

Please speak to me at Radcliffe tomorrow, or at next Saturday’s home game against Lancaster City if you wish to help. Alternatively, feel free to pm me on here.

Many thanks for all your support so far.

A further update for everyone on my Sponsored Weight-Loss which is going well and continuing. Following another discussion with Mark before the end of last season, it has been decided to extend the time limit of the sponsorship until August and the beginning of the new season. There are two reasons for this, firstly to enable me to give it a real conserted effort and lose as much as I can and secondly to give Macca and Pritch the best possible start financially to build the team and enable them to make a real challenge.

I would once again like to thank people who have pledged already for this cause but, I would still like more sponsors in order to raise as much as is possible in the time and to give our team the best chance of progressing. In the 12 weeks or so that I have been undertaking this challenge I am more than happy to say that in terms of body weight, almost a stone has gone already and your efforts have helped raise nearly £500 guaranteed for the football team already. All money raised from the sponsorship will go directly to helping Macca & Pritch build the team they feel can take our club forward in the future.

Good lad Derek two great causes, keep that diet going mate - Will see you down the club after your target is hit and sort out my donation to your fund.
