the rest of us must be watching a different player.
I like Pete Heler, athletic, quick and strong if he has a fault he is a confidence player if he thinks he is playing well then he does, if he makes mistakes then he seems to lose it a bit, however he was overwhelmingly player of the year last season, maybe we will unearth another gem of a winger at full back like matt wood ! now that would be great because we need as player there to complete the squad imo I like his attitude and would like him to be apart of our success.
" the rest of us must be watching a different player " a true Wittoner would not say that Albion Forever !
At least Heler has got pace !
I too am a big admirer of Pete Heler. Admittingly he is a confidence player, so you will not see the best of him if you constantly get on his back!
Last season, he started brilliantly…do you remember him scoring with a volley from the half way line in the friendly against Fleetwood Town?.
Injury forced him out of the side, and he struggled to regain his place once he was fit again. When he did get a game, he lacked confidence, and was not very effective.
Eventually, due to longterm injuries to other players, he did get a good run in the side, and his confidence returned, and grew the more he played, and was easily our best player by the end of the season.
As you will also see from my post match comments after Saturday’s game, I was very impressed with Anton Bryan’s performance, and if the manager agrees with me, Peter may well be due for some long spell’s on the bench.
However, due to Pritch’s niggle, Peter did not start on the bench, but played out of position at right back. I believe that the right back position has been a bit of a problem for us this season, and more by luck than judgement, Oggie may well have solved the problem. If Peter and Anton can form a partnership down the right (given time), and with the Woods/Botham partnership flourishing down the left, we will cause all teams in our league problems this season. Macca and Maguire’s understanding is starting blossom in the centre of midfield, and Frosty seems to get the best out of Kinsey up front.
I don’t need to mention the central defenders, as we are blessed with 3 of the very best to choose from. Add to that, a very reliable goalkeeper (Saturday was a one off!), we have a very good team at this level of football, with some very capable backup players on the bench in Stott, Little, Pugh, Smith, Holt & Moffatt
He’s a much better player without the ball than he is with it.
Well said Thatch, as for Peter I think he his a damn good player who is having a bad time, but you know what they say “Form comes and goes, class lasts forever”. He will be back to his best soon of that I am sure. Right back? not sure about that, can he hold himself back enough not to get caught upfield too much? Holt may have had his problems but I think he was improving in every game, deserves another chance in my opinion. As for our keeper, yet to see a better one in this league.

Couldn’t we ban players from viewing this site so that we could have a balanced forum please.
THere is nothing wrong with constructive critscism, but just saying a player is “crap” or “too slow” is not constructive. I was told I spoke too much drivel, fair comment, I have tried to stop doing it, players can react the same, for instance you could say a player needs to be more constructive in his distribution or that he should clear his lines and not faf about, but please don’t just say thet are rubbish, that helps no one.

I think its worth notng too that Peter is playing in considerable pain with a back injury.
