Stalybridge Celtic vs Witton Albion.

Witton travel to strugglers Stalybridge Celtic on Saturday afternoon in an Evo-Stik Premier Division fixture. The Blues have found life difficult since their relegation from the Vanarama League North at the end of last season and currently find themselves 23rd in the table going into the weekend programme. They did start the new year with an excellent result against Lancaster City, a result which included a hat trick from former Chester FC player Jordan Chapell. Games between the two clubs have been rare in recent seasons particularly at league level although there have been a few battles in various cup competitions, the last being an FA Trophy tie last season which went to a replay at Seel Park, the home of Celtic’s neighbours Mossley AFC following a 1-1 draw. Witton go into the game buoyed by the excellent performance and victory at leaders Altrincham on New Year’s Day and will be looking to continue their good form which has seen them collect seven points over the festive period. Stalybridge are fighting for their lives and will provide Witton with a very tough examination as they try to climb away from the football of the table. The games also gives current Albion players Steven Tames and Prince Haywood, the chance to return to one of their former clubs so, they will be in familiar surroundings. Witton will be looking to complete the double over their opponents, following the 4-1 success earlier in the season but Stalybridge will be no pushover. Kick off at Bower Fold is 3pm.

It sounds like we are struggling at the moment with injuries, I think we can still put out a decent team but only just ? UTA
