Witton Albion are back on the road on Saturday with a short trip to Stalybridge Celtic in the BetVictor Northern Premier League.
After a postponement last weekend at Matlock Town, Witton will be eager to get back out on the pitch at Bower Fold, although the weather could take its toll again (pitch inspection at 10am).
Last time out, two weeks ago, Albion were defeated 3-1 at Ashton United, losing striker Will Jones to a double fracture of the jaw in the process.
Manager Carl Macauley has brought in reinforcements this week with the additions of defender Tyrone Duffus from Warrington Town and forward James Hooper from Altrincham, and both could be in line for their debuts this weekend.
Striker Danny Mitchley won’t be involved as he has returned to Radcliffe FC after his two-month loan expired.
Hosts Stalybridge Celtic have had a bit of sticky period since the turn of the year, in fact they have faired better on their travels having suffered eight league defeats in front of their own fans so far this season.
Last week’s 3-1 triumph over Gainsborough Trinity was their first victory in 2020, at the tenth time of asking.
The loss of 15-goal forward Darius Osei to South Shields will have been a big blow to Simon Haworth’s side, but they do have good attacking options with the likes of Craig Hobson who netted the only goal of the game as Celtic beat Albion 1-0 earlier in the season, will miss out through suspension.
Kick-off at the Bower Fold is 3:00pm.
