Yes its important to move on as a Club (and we will, as we always have done), but to ignore the mistakes that have taken us from where we were 3 years ago to where we currently stand now would be nothing short of irresponsible.
If we don’t address these things now, then we are destined to go on repeating the same mistakes again and again and again.
Anyway, i’m off to let Sully know it wasn’t his fault and he’s got his job back…
I admire Central Grounders spirit, but I’m with you on this Robbo. Some of the decision making over the last 18 months has been flawed. Easy to say now in hindsight but we DO need to learn from the past mistakes as you say so moving forward and ensure we don’t make them again. The position of football manager is all important and if you get that right success follows on the field leading to more support off it not just fans but local interest too. We now have a chance to make sure we choose right and I’m afraid cheapest is not always the best. I’m impressed by what appears to be success at Bamber Bridge on probably a lowish budget so use that as a benchmark for us. Its got to be right this time otherwise the club will sink even faster. Here’s hoping we get the right man.
The manager can only do so much, once they go over that white line it’s down to the players. We have spent so much time bringing players in from two or three league below, who couldn’t make the step up to the level we were playing at. Yes, I accept that was forced on us in some respects due to budgets
It is right that the chairman has always said that we will not spend money that we simply haven’t got or can’t afford but bringing in managers from lower levels means they will only bring players in from that level or in most cases, players who they have previously worked with.
The day a woman manages any football team in English football, whether it be non league or professional, will be the day I stop watching it! They have a women’s league we don’t need them in our game!
Personally I wouldn’t mind if we had a woman manager if she got us up a few leagues!* There are more and more referees (or are they referee’ess?), lines women and physio’s so I think a woman manager is not far round the corner!
Gentlemen (or ladies) your comments about out potentially having a lass as manager regarding her being “fit” (I presume fit for getting us back up!) and “swapping shirts” are a bit naughty. I mean, we have lasses being referees and liners… :silly:
