The situation is defeat at Stamford and were either in Div 1 North or South, there will be no reprieve as ive read today that the Ryman league side are guaranteed the reprieve.
Saturday’s game is bigger in my opinion than the Curzon play off final which was to get into this league, it seems as were 90 minutes from dropping out the interest is far less obvious
We need the fans to be the 12th man on Saturday, Stamford are predicting a crowd in excess of 800 so were heavily outnumbered. Yes i understand we cant all make some games due to work and other commitments plus some fans are needed back at the Club for the Beer festival but can i urge any Wittoners not busy on Saturday to come along
We have a 49 seater Coach with a toilet on board and the cost is £20, as i write this we only have 14 supporters travelling! Surely for a game of this magnitude we can at least fill one bus?
As Deliah Smith once said…
Come on lets be having you!!
Been doing a bit of reading up on Stamford and interesting to note that they have only won 3 times at home in the league this season and since moving into their new ground at the end of the year are still awaiting their first league win there!
Their fans are concerned that the team may resort to hoofing the ball forward in the hope someone may run onto it (sounds familiar).
Its going to be a battle of nerves, if we score first do we then try and hold on knowing a point keeps us up or do we try and get a 2nd to give us breathing space?
If they score first will they also park the bus?
One things for sure its going to be a very nervous afternoon!
If we stay up were gonna party all the way home and if we lose just thank god were on our own Coach and not sharing with the players as things have turned awkward at times this season!
Nice and positive postyred! It’s all about Saturday and attitude, we know what we need to do and are capeable of doing it. We managed a draw with the champions ten days ago.
It will be interesting to see how we start up. I wonder if we will park the Chelsea bus for the first half hour or so and keep plenty back behind the ball, there is no doubt they will come at us soonish guns blazing with them having to win. Or will we just go gung ho or counter and try and get an early goal to settle us.? Either way Sully is going to have to have his tactics spot on for this one! UTA
Well it’s a quandary park the bus I’m not sure we have that in our DNA and all out attack with one striker assuming Rainford Is still away on his jollies, I think we should go 4-5-1 for starters and see how we play and just quell Stamford leaving some energy back for a big effort in the second half I’d start if ll fit :
Porter
Goulding, Barnes, Shaw, Dawson.
Simpson, Schofield, Clarke, Corbett, Hancock.
Titchener
Parker, Shaw, Chrisokhou, Swift, Rainford ?
It’s nt ideal but could certainly squeezed draw and maybe nickit hopefully !
I don’t think that will be far off the team C.J. I personally, would go for Joe Shaw ahead of Simpson as in my opinion he poses a greater threat in the opposing penalty area.
I’d have to disagree with you Wheels, Joe was a decent player about 5 years go before he joined us injuries and age have taken a toll on him He is not Premier standard anymore unfortunately, at Least Simpson has a pair of legs on him with decent stamina.
