STEVE BURR AS GONE!

Steve Burr as gone from the Shit team, ;D

I heard a rumour he was being considered for the Kettering job

Might stick my CV in ;)…Nah F**k em, my Sunday team has more money ;D

Mark Cooper got the Kettering job at the end of last week. Burr looks to have been unlucky as there were a few jobs floating around that he would have probably walked into, however most have now be taken. Despite my complete and utter dislike for anything and everything over the canal I think Burr was one of their biggest assets - him going only sticks another nail into the proverbial coffin.

I understand Kevin Tully is one of the potential candidates.
God help the scums. ;D

Losing Steve Burr will be a huge loss for NVFC and I would think most of their supporters will be gutted.

That said I am ambivalent to what happens over there - I am much more concerned with what happens to us and the well being of our team.

Lets stay focused on making Witton the top team and let other events take care of themselves

heard the players havent been paid for 3 weeks

hehe what news! i think vics may go downhill from here now that burr is gone, and if what slaphead has said is true, then i think that vics are in a very deep hole that will be hard to get out of!

As I have seen posted somewhere else, non league players are rarely paid in the summer months, I’d expect this to include their players too.
If you play for Bradford Park albion it may be different however…

Surely Neil thats not why one of our beloved players have signed for them? especially after the supporters here put their hands in their pockets to give him a signing fee a couple of years ago? no I don’t believe that for a minute

I’ve had several conversations with Steve Burr when ever we played them and he was always polite and knowledgeable about the game as well as sporting even when he lost. He is a a decent bloke and a good manager and a cut above the current directorial set up at VICS!! I’m sure he’ll find a new job quickly and I’m glad for him he got out of there. Just hope that his new job is not with a club in our league as they will be tough to beat!!

My thoughts exactly picko!

I don’t think we should be criticising the reason why particular players have moved on without knowing their motives. Especially those that have been good servants to the club.

All I will say is I really hope people realise when Brian Pritchard does hang up his boots they realise how lucky we have been when a player of his ability stayed with us despite the fact he could easily has taken the silver dollar and signed elsewhere. I have watched the Albs for too long to remember (not as long as mona though) and I have never known a player so commited to one club and he’s not even local! has Pritch ever signed a contract? the only fear I have with Brian is we take him for granted. as this season proved he still has a lot to offer… just a thought another testimonial when the apperance record is broken…

The local papers are worth their money today !!!

For the benefit of us not in Northwich, why?

Can someone provide a summary?

for you Eddie;

NORTHWICH Vics owner Mike Connett and manager Steve Burr are involved in an extraordinary showdown.

Mr Burr insists he is no longer employed by the club after the pair apparently failed to reach agreement on a number of issues and he departed on Saturday – but Mr Connett is saying: ‘Oh yes, you are’.

The two men seem to be taking up their positions for a legal battle. Mr Burr issued a statement saying: ‘As far as I am concerned, my contract has been terminated by Northwich Victoria FC, so therefore I am no longer employed by the club.’

He had met Mr Connett to discuss plans for next season, but talks broke down. Mr Burr issued a deadline of 9am on Saturday for negotiations to be completed, after which he issued his statement.

But yesterday Mr Connett said: ‘Steve Burr is still employed by the club. When we are ready to make a statement we will let you know. I’m not interested in whatever Steve Burr wants to say in the Press but he has not had his contract rescinded.’

Mr Burr claims the meeting with Mr Connett should have happened weeks before the end of the season and described the delay as a ‘disgrace’.

He is believed to be considering taking actionagainst Mr Connett for ‘constructive dismissal’.

His statement went on: ‘I would like to thank football secretary Derek Nuttall, general manager Dave Thomas, my assistant manager Dave Moss and the rest of the backroom staff – especially the players and our magnificent
supporters. I have had three great years on the football side and am proud of our achievements.’

Burr led Vics to the Conference North championship last year, the club’s first title in 48 years. But it is understood he and Mr Connett were not on speaking terms towards the end of Mr Burr’s reign.

Dave Moss had already resigned, saying: ‘My contract was coming to an end.’

Mr Connett issued the following statement yesterday: ‘I can confirm Steve Burr is contracted as manager of Northwich Victoria FC (2004) Ltd and is still employed by the above club.’

the news came as no surprise to most fans of vics and witton - its been on the cards for a while and is the start of the end of vics in its current form…one of the following will prob happen;

mc willing to let vics drop league or two to reduce costs by reducing wage bills - slow painfull decline

mc willing to let vics drop league or several to reduce costs by manufacturing a scenario where they get booted out - quick painfull decline

mc drop vics in the **** and supporters trust pick up left overs and start again in lower leagues v quick painfull decline

mc sell to supp trust and thry rent
either vs or other stadium - vics drop league or two tcan not sustain wage bills for conference football - slow painfull decline

vics best hope if he csan sell to Buyer with money Not in it just for Money - a very unlikely scenario outcome unknown

vics close down - unlikely as vics will rally together to produce something and start again - this has worked for teams like telford etc but im not sure with us representing the town that they wud ever recover and it cud go nowhere

i feel a bit sorry for them its good to have rivalry in the town and a shame if they go out of existence even to our gain - maybe see them thrown out of conf down to unibond prem during the summer would be a nice outcome!

Heard a rumour that SB has the stalybridge job…just a rumour

Just read an article by Steve Burr in the NLP by eck that Connett is a very nice man ::slight_smile:
