i would be all to happy to play for the team if i was good enough whenever im in northwich back home from uni
All,
We have our first game on Sunday afternoon at 4pm. It is a league fixture (although it is the last fixture of the season so we have chance to go the whole season unbeaten!!).
It’s at Middlewich.
I need 9 names.
We are playing a team from Sandbach. Match fees are ?22, so ?2.50 each. I suggest we all wear Witton home shirts for this if possible. (I have a couple of spares for those without, doesn’t matter what season aslong as they are red and white and of the vertical striped variety!).
We then have a friendly at 4.30pm. No match fees for this one. So basically 2 games for the price of 1.
It’s 13 minutes each way, so i’m sure the older legs amongst us will hold up. It’s rolling subs too, so everyone gets a game, everyone gets a breather!
Anyone wanting to play can you either post on here or text me. If you haven’t already then can you mail your details to Greenie.
Anyone wanting to come down and watch is more than welcome, but i need at least 9 players or we’re buggered![br]Posted on: February 14, 2007, 01:14:03 PM
We still need 2 or 3 players. A few of the ‘squad’ are unavailable, so if anybody fancies just coming down for the one game then it would be handy.
With me, Yox, and Stu playing the standard wont be high so anyone is welcome!
Can’t make it for the next two Sundays.
Do we have a fixture list for the new season yet?
Could do with knowing when we start to make sure Sundays are clear.
It has taken me a while to reply, but I’m interested in playing the odd game.
I can play on Sunday if you still need players.
I have just e-mailed Greenie my details and would love to play with fellow Wittoners.
See you Saturday.
Thomas, we will pencil you in for Sunday.[br]Posted on: February 15, 2007, 12:58:24 PM
http://www.soccersixes.net/leagueinfo_tables.php?action=league&league_id=402&division_id=690&season_id=1160&search_league=402&search_league_division=690&cboseason=1160&command=SEARCH
yes we are playing Sandbach Sharks. They have agreed to play witha handicap as it is our first game. So we’ve loaned them Stu for the day. I don’t know where Greenie got the Franz Beckenbaur likeliness from - more like Franz Ferdinand!!
We now have a squad of 9 for Sunday’s match. We all need to be at Middlewich for about 3.45pm. If anyone doesn’t know the way, then perhaps we can all meet up somewhere? But we can sort it out tomorrow at Guisley.
Wonder if Corbyn fancies bringing the drum along?!?
We are wearing home Witton shirts, with black shorts, and either black or red socks depending on what you have got. It’s rolling subs so everyone will get a game. We have 2 games so we wont start the same 6 for both. Please ensure that you have shin-pads and decent trainers for astroturf (Yox, please take note…)
Could well nip for a Curry afterwards and a couple of beers.
In the long term it’s a bit undecided at the moment. This is the final game of this season at Middlewich and then they shut down for about 3 weeks. Ideally we want to join the league at Jonny Dean’s, but the current season there doesn’t end for about 6 weeks.
The organisers have suggested that we join the new league at Middlewich, and then they’ll try to move us to John Dean’s when that season starts in about 2 months. I think it could be a good idea to get fitness up and to start playing as a team. The bonus at John Dean’s is that Greenie’s dad looks after the rowing club, so we can get changed in there etc. He is also willing to open the bar up for us afterwards…
Would appreciate hearing what everyone thinks about this.
I think it would be a good idea for the team to play in the Middlewich league to start with.
If the team likes it playing in Middlewich then they could always stay in that league.
On the other hand, if John Deane’s is the preferred league then they can just use Middlewich to keep/get fit.
How about coming up with some songs about Sunday’s squad for any one who wants to go down and watch Robbo?
Who is in the squad?
For Sunday it’s looking like being;
GK - Crouchy
DF - Robbo / Greg
MD - Greenie (c) / Mike Blundell
ST - Glyn Knight
Subs - Big Stu / Yox / Thomas.
But as mentioned earlier it’s rolling subs, so it’s 10 minutes on/10 minutes off.[br]Posted on: February 16, 2007, 06:35:39 PM
We have our first league game at John Deane’s on Sunday at 3.30pm.
I have some neames, if anyone else wants to play please let me know. I need a squad of 9.
Will probably meet at Northwich rowing club approx 2.45ish.
I will have a full fixture list by the end of the week so will post on here.
Mike Turner, if you can set us up with our own section asap it would be appreciated.
Players for Sunday so far;
Andy Chad
Big Stu
Yox
Greenie
Mike Blundell
Drew
Me
Greg
Crouch
So i have a full match squad, but could do with a ‘10th man’ just in case.
Seems like ages ago this!! My how things have changed!!!
