I reckon that Evans played quite well when he played last year. I don’t think he got a long enough run in the team, nor enough time when he came on to have much of an impact. I personally feel that he could be Warlow’s replacement. They have a similar playing style.
m/wittoner, these players you mention, have they signed then for witton?.
The players that I believe will be here at the start of next season are Pritch, Barras, Kearns (hopefully), Alex Brown (hopefully), Rod Thornley, and Tony Evans plus reserve lads. Don’t expect anybody else to be here
I agree with you. They were so similar they couldn’t play together and I thought at the time that Evans was therefore acquired to replace Adam Warlow rather than to partner him. His record before joining us was impressive and once a goalscorer, always a goalscorer, in my book. Given a decent run and some support from midfield and the terraces he can do the business for us.
For all the same reasons I don’t think Rapley has a role for us.
Rod and Tony could very well form a partnership to match that of Rod and Adam.
If that is the case then we won’t struggle for goals next year at all.
If Peers is going then the lads need to start practising penalties as I don’t want a repeat of 2 years ago when we had loads of penalties but missed most of them.
Mark who ?
Junior Brown what a signing he’d be and a far better player than Peers! Would also like to see Liam stay but realise that “big money” and successful Conference club Alty will want to sign him and pay him more money. Would’nt it be nice if Liam bucked the trend and stayed with us. I know Liam likes it at the club and I appreciate he has to do the best for him but fingers crossed here’s hoping he’ll stay. I was impressed with Eamon Price at Prescot last season and the young centre forward at Ossett. Can we sign these kind of people on and give them a chance surely we can match Prescots wages! Oh for a Ken Barnes or Alf Ashley but if they were still playing they’d be England regulars!!
i think we would all love liam to stay but he wants to go. Only good thing is altys interest has cooled as they have to pay a transfer fee and they cant afford to do that. Im sure nige could sway junior brown to come and it would be great if he does as he was awesome. But if he doesnt am sure we wil get a couple of decent loan signings again from crewe.
I am not sure about the loan signings from Crewe. I believe the strengh of our relationship with Crewe came from the fact that JV had contacts there from his days when he used to be captain of the reserve side.
Rumour has it that JV has gone back to Crewe in some sort of capacity.
Enough of me being negative. How about Shaun Whalley on one wing and Junior Brown on the other? That would get some defences worried. Would be nice to think we could afford them both.
It’s starting to look a little bit more promising (provided Kearns and Cav stay!!)
Coo has gone to Droylsden as part of their recent recruitment drive… Kearney is to sign for Ashton apparently.
So by my understanding the whole SQUAD is now down to 7 players plus whoever is promoted from the reserves.
Greg Smith
Pritch
Ton Barras
Paul Donnelley
Scott Willis
Tony Evans
Rod Thornley
Such a shame if Kearney has gone because I thought he could have been a real top defender in this league he reminded me of a young Jim Connor the way he played but I guess he will be gurenteed 1st team football at Ashton.
The only person we don’t now know about is Tony Evans does anyone know if he has commited for next season? I also assume Rapley has been released maybe he will be turning out for Roberts Bakery next season.
That’ll do for me, cheap as well!!!
