I am putting this on here because a Wittoner just might have heard of them. Twins, George and Harry Boden of 8 Williams Street Northwich were both killed in World War one in the last year of the war, 1918. Harry was killed in March and George, who had won a Military Medal was killed in October the same year just a few weeks before the Armistice. Amazingly I can find nothing more about them. Does anyone know their story? Back to Football now I promise.

PS I found that we have been supporting the “Heroes” for some time. With Vics Witton gave shorts and “jerseys” to the local battalion so they could play matches while in camp in England before going to the Front.

Discovered a Biden playing full back for Witton in September 1914.

Flipping spell check, BODEN!
WHS.
The Boden that played for us for about four seasons was Roland Boden.
George & Harry weren’t twins, George was born in 1896 and Harry in 1897 - to parents Charles & Annie who were then living at 29 Forest Street. They had at least 9 children.
Come and see me on Tuesday, so as not too “offend” other users, if I can help further.
Thanks, I brought a local lad would know. I discovered they were not twins the other day when checking births in the library.
