The Future.

Does anybody know when we are going to get together & have a meeting about our future. In a few months we lose our leader (& his family ), so will we be ‘‘structured’’ to carry on without any planning. Do we have a new chairman?, will we go with a committee?, does anybody know? I think we should be having meetings for all Albion fans to be made welcome '‘strength in numbers." This is the time we must act! These probs’ need sorting now, in my opinion! I would love to start this topic, hoping it gets the ball rolling. Any thoughts??, over to you!

I think there will be things going on in private to resolve the future. My guess would be a small board (required legally as a ltd company) supported by an active general committee. The board do not really need to meet fans or shareholders technically, but I am sure when the right time comes we will have a meeting and certainly we should have the chance to thank Mark and his family for all the work they have done for our club and I hope they remain Wittoners. Think you are right here Colin. I can’t believe that our people who run the club are not planning for a succession I’m sure they are doing so but I too have only heard several names being bandied about and when I spoke to two of them Saturday they said they weren’t interested.
I feel that this is a real positive for the club and might re-energise us without disrespecting the job Mark has done.
We need fresh ideas and I’d really like us to promote better relationships with the larger local businesses and the community The 1st priority for me would be to try and get the Social club used more. How about for things like zumba classes, keep fit, Slimming clubs, and align ourselves with the local wincham community and beyond. Tidy up the club a bit and get into the local business inviting them to a business seminar to demonstrate that we are with them and try and encourage more corporate hospitality.
Ok they might night chuck loads of money at us but hopefully even an invite on a match day might spark more interest and have a snowball affect for people like Hut Group, Thor, Cygnet, Oakmere garages, Roberts Bakery and others. Sorry if I’m out of order and I’m not having a go at our fantastic people like Mark and co who’ve done a good job but maybe a new person can take us in a different direction. Lets be positive and move the club forward

Chris, there was a social committee formed in December which had its first meeting this month. It’s made up of volunteers already involved in match day fundraising, match day volunteers and maintenance people as the committees primary function is to increase the revenue raised via match day activities, increase footfall through the social club and to maintain and update the social areas.
To date we have arranged an event per month in the social club up until the end of the season, Race Night in Feb, St Patrick’s Night in March and Player of the Year do in April. More functions will be arranged at our next meeting this week.
Supporters transport has been arranged for the remainder of the season as required, maintenance work will begin in the social club this week and a donation to the Witton Albion Dev Fund of over £800 has been made in January.
Any ideas on fund raising are much appreciated, volunteers to implement those ideas even more appreciated, the committee is open to anyone. Anyone genuinely interested in the future of Witton Albion as a football club, and the only club in the town.
The idea of tidying the social club up and inviting business’s in is great. At the moment I’d be chuffed if our own supporters used it!
Happy to chat after or before any game, mines a Carling.

Just hope you don’t let the outgoing chairman pick the new one unless it is… !
