The Longest Week

It’s going to be a long week waiting for the Cods results. 2 wins and it’s squeeze your bum time, 2 losses and I will be like gypsy’s dog with 2 cocks ! :o

I predict 4 points for them this week. It will be closer to the end of the season that really matters when they have to play the games that have been called off. I think WHS has pointed out that after Sat we have just 5 games to play away from home so a big push from everyone especially at home games needed now. Lets everybody get behind the lads and help them as much as we can.

Within the last hour, Fleetwood Town have completed the signing of former Rhyl FC player Andy Moran. Striker Moran, signed for an undisclosed club record fee, had been at Rhyl for six seasons, during which time he scored 99 goals from 147 starts.

Well known to Tony Greenwood, he played for him at Bamber Bridge, having previously played for Hereford United and Tranmere Rovers. He left to join Rhyl in 2001, shortly after Tony had moved on.

Delighted to be reunited with his former player, Tony said ‘Andy has scored goals wherever he has played. He is exactly the type of player that we need to bring into the squad at this stage of our season. His experience and drive will give us another gear.’

Andy goes into the squad for tomorrow evening’s Gateshead game.

Anyone else considering a trip to the Fylde coast tonight?
Supporting Gateshead of course

We need a result here c’mon Gateshead. I think the Moran lad was banned for a long time didn’t he fail a drug test or something. Anyway he was prorifically scoring goals for Rhyl but recently they have dried up and I notice he wasn’t getting in. No disrespect to our Welsh fans but does anybody think the Welsh league is up to the Unibond Premier standard? I’m just trying to figure out if this guy will be an assett to them he played for Greenwood before when he was at Bamber Bridge!! If Fleetwood have a weakness it’s maybe that they have not scored goals all that freely recently and this lad could alter that for them!!

I’m weighing up whether to go or not…

A draw with 7 red cards will do for me tonight!

I honestly can’t see anything other than a Fleetwood win though unfortunately. Reading their match reports it appears that everything is going their way at the moment, should be interesting though.

Just checking the fixtures for ourselves and Fleetwood between tonight and when we meet them, and both teams have some pretty difficult games;

Fleetwood; witton;
gateshead home matlock away
leek away gateshead home
whitby home whitby home
worksop away prescot away
gateshead away frickley home
osset home gateshead away
marine away guisley away
whitby away leek home
matlock away marine away
prescot home fleetwood home
witton away

Wet and windy in Manchester. Just trying to persuade myself that I fancy a trip up the M61. If anyone’s going to stop Fleetwood picking up three points at home then surely it’s got to be Gateshead?

As for their new signing, I’m not sure it’s not more quantity rather than quality - they have signed a lot of forwards in particular this year. Andy Moran had one really good season for Rhyl, the year they won the Welsh Premier in 2004, a championship win which became the subject of argument after it turned out Moran had failed a drugs test during the later stages of the season.

If Steve Foster is acceptable to the codpieces then a small matter like a drugs test is neither here nor there.
New players rarely make an instant impact.
One of our major plusses this season has been a settled side. Arguably things could have been different on Saturday if Steve Brodie had retained his place.
Let’s hope Gateshead can draw at least.

i think we have to stop looking for excuses about why we didn’t win on Saturday and accept the result. Sometimes these will go against us and you have to get on with it. No-one in this league is going to keel over for us or Fleetwood.

We are in danger of putting real pressure on the players and staff unnecessarily and getting into the position that Telford and Hednesford were last year when they both nearly blew it. Stay calm, don’t panic, support the team and have the faith we have had all season

I was under the impression Brodie wasn’t 100% fit Sat which is why he made way?

Moran scored tonight.

I think the week is getting shorter ;D

PS posting on the Cods website " Gateshead are now running the clock down " Enough said

Quote is "Gateshead now trying to run down the clock."

I well remember us trying to do this at Workington in 2002 when 3-1 up with 5 minutes left - we drew 3-3!

Cheer up Chad  It worked for Gateshead tonight( and us ) which is all that matters

Well it turned out to be short week did’nt it! 8)
