The Management

I felt we needed a thread to comment on the progress under the new management team.

Looking at the personnel, performances and points accumulated there is no doubt that we are heading in the right direction; away from the bottom and into the comfort zone of mid table.

The team they have begun to build is miles better than the one they inherited. The players know their roles and play with passion and determination. The organisation is better and from standing behind the dugout at Cammell Laird we coukld see that the instructions delivered to the players were effective and encouraging.

The new signings have impressed. Adding players of the calibre of Paul Booth, Oliver James, Ashley Dunn and Neil Black have given us much needed skill and strength on the pitch.

So a big thank you to Gary Finley, Lee Coathup and Dave Millington.
Well done fellas.

Well said!
What’s the James Olsen story?
Can we hang on to Ashley Dunn?

Careful boys - while I agree with u let us not be giving votes of confidence just yet - funny old game football !

James Olsen has i believe defected to Marine Dodger:angry:

Yes , but lets give credit where its due, and I think so far its due. and ok there may be some dodgy results to come, but lets enjoy the good ones

Agreed, the new managemment team have done a great job TO THIS POINT. There is still a long way to go.

It’s also important to recognise the hard work that Nige did in the summer, although ultimately he didn’t succeed, it wasn’t for a lack of trying.

Finley took over us when we were in an awful position. Full credit to him. If we went down by the slightest of margins you couldn’t fault him because he has done extremely well. If the board had waited any longer before changing the management when they did we may have already been dead and buried. At least Gary has given us a big chance of staying up!

Great work Lee and Gary!

Robbo no-one is saying Nige didn’t try but football is all about results and Gary and Lee are getting us those results. We all love Nige here at witton but changes had to be made. No-one is saying there is not a long way to go. Why cant we just Savour a couple of good results and enjoy the moment. Its not like we have had much too cheer about lately. I also think that if it does go a bit pear-shaped it will only be because we have only got a small squad and not much back up if we get injuries.

The subject of the post is to recognise how well Gary and Lee have done in recent weeks and the results speak for themselves, 9 points from 9 since boxing day!

They have brought in better players than the ones they replaced and there is a fighting, winning, confident attitude to the way we are playing. They deserve the credit as do the players, although the job will not be done until the end of April! We have to go into every game with the same approach as it is easy to get dragged back into trouble.

I will always believe that Nigel deserved more time than he was given, but that is now history and a pointless debate. I doubt Jose Mourinho could have done much in the disarray we were in at the start of the season!

Gary is doing a very good job with limited resources, he deserves that everyone backs him.

As I have said before, whether we like a manager is irrelevant, all that matters is, “Is he getting results”?
WHS.

Love the fickleness and hypocrisy of supporters, last season we were all being berated by Joanna for supporting the previous manager despite the fact we finished runners up twice he was labelled as a bottler and a loser!

Oh for that opportunity and feeling of being a loser now!

Anyway back to the thread, the transformation in the last 2 months has been remarkable, the management team have done a fantastic job this far, just to get us even talking about the possibility of staying up!

Lets take each game as it comes, no doubt there will be twists and turns along the way, but I think we should savour the victories which we were taking for granted over recent seasons.

So you were happy to finish runners up were you when we had been top of the league all season. I was right about the team and manager they were bottlers and losers. I just felt the fans like Robbo who put so much into the football club deserved better from the players of last season.

Thats why i am giving the manager and players praise now because they are showing bottle and winning games they need to win not bottling it. Also these players have started there time here at the bottom of the league and are working there way up on less money than them losers last year.
