WITTON RE-APPOINT VINCE

Witton Albion Football Club have announced that Jim Vince has been re-appointed as First Team Manager and will resume his duties this week, along with his backroom staff.

40 year old Vince will sign a two year contract, and the move brings to a close an unhappy fortnight for the Wincham Park club following the disappointment of not winning promotion from the UniBond Premier Division.

Acting Chairman Mark Harris explained why the board had turned to Vince once again. “A man who has achieved two consecutive second place finishes, whose teams play flowing, attacking football and score over 100 goals in a season would be on the wanted list at any non-league club. It would also be foolish to disregard the fact that Jim is the supporters’ overwhelming choice as manager. Happily we’ve been able to combine what people want with what the club can afford.”

The formal offer was made to Vince after the club’s playing budget for the new season was fixed by the board of directors, and talks between club and supporters’ representatives, resulting in an increased financial commitment from supporters for the season ahead. Harris continued: “Last season the fans were superb, complementing the playing budget provided by the club with consistent fundraising which was vital to our title challenge. That commitment has been increased this season, and will help compensate for additional expenditure the club has incurred as a result of not being promoted. Most importantly though it will give Jim the resources to make a challenge for honours once again.”

Two and a half years after first taking over the Witton hot seat from Gary Finley, Vince was delighted to accept the club’s offer. “When you get this kind of support, how could I possibly say no?”

Harris concluded: “All along this has been about maintaining continuity, and I’m delighted that we can now look forward once again. If we all work together, as directors and supporters should, raising money and reducing costs wherever possible, we’ve got half a chance of achieving the success that every true Wittoner deserves. Outgoing chairman Mike Worthington has left a tremendous legacy of financial stability on which we can build; with transparency, mutual respect and trust, we will achieve it.”

The club has also announced an Information Meeting, for supporters on Thursday 29th May, 7.30pm for 8pm, in the social club at Wincham Park. Acting chairman Mark Harris will explain to fans what it costs to run the club, the levels of sponsorship and advertising required, and how supporters and club can work together in the coming months. The meeting will also be an opportunity to meet the club’s new Commercial team of Alan Simpson and Sam Raistrick.

Ive been waiting to say this all week…

Who needs Mourinho we’ve got Jim Vincio !!!

Very good news indeed - however please no one think the hard work is done - as supporters we have to support the club in every sense. (see Andy Chads thread elsewhere)
However finally some good news so lets enjoy it for now!

Thank the Lordy,
Let’s have some sense and sensibility at Witton. All I can say is,

Welcome back Jim Vincio.:cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

Fantastic news ! Great to see Jim Back at Witton;)

Brilliant news!!! Lets get back on track more now

GET IN!!!

Great news. As far as I’m concerened you never left in the first place Jim!! So lets start moving forward like we’ve all said we would do. I’m sure Jim will have been formulating his plans anyway. I don’t want to rake over the past its gone but I just hope that Jim, Nige, the players take a look at the things that prevented us going up and maybe look to improve on these. There are so many positives about our team and our management team in particular so I’m not being critical here but its like any project you undertake you need to look at the things that were not done so well and learn from them and build on the stuff that went well. I’m sure thats what we’ll do and we have the continutiy to maybe fine tune the team we have now and have a succesful 3rd go at going up. If ever a club deserved it its us but we ALL have to keep working towards it in a united way and that means, fans, football players management and back room staff, and the board with our new commercial people really getting to grips with the fund raising side!!
One other thing that would really get me totally chuffed would be if Mark could persuade Mike to stay with the club in a vice president/ Management consultant role! Mike is too good a bloke to lose altogether and I think his input and expertise is fat too valuable to lose. So here’s hoping that this can be possible after Mike has had a suitable period of time for the bereavement he and Julie have just had and of course to recharge his batteries!!
Really cheered me up this has as I was beginning to get on a downer as nothing seemed to be happening. Should have known Mark would do something he’s a positive guy!!

So happy a little bit of wee came out:laugh:

Mona…spot on as usual.

I was speaking to Mike on Saturday at the Presidents Cup, and it was obvious that his tentacles are still very deeply buried into the running of this club, and I believe he still wants to see through the main objectives of the job he started 10 years ago, before handing over the reigns completely.

I think the idea of an Honary Vice President goes without question… no argument!

Then the hard work starts… trying to detail all the work Mike was dealing with day to day, week to week, month to month etc. Then, sitting down with Mike, working out which threads of his work he would wish to continue with to successful completion, and which threads he would now wish to pass on to other Members of The Board, and other executives.

Who said there was no such thing as happy endings. I am now going down the bottom of the garden to feed the fairies.

Absolutely fantastic news for the club. I’m pretty sure that Jim coming back will mean the majority of the squad will end up staying leaving us perfectly placed for another assault on the league next season. Fair play to the board and the supporters reps that have put the package together for Jim, the buzz around the club is back again!

Judging by the comments on the guardian website, the vics fans are gutted he’s come back. They almost seem threatened!!!

fantastic news

welcome back … woooop !! :stuck_out_tongue:
