Look forward to it! :cheer:

If someone was compiling a book about Witton Albion would’nt they be better off contacting the Club for information,or perhaps a word with Chad, look through the Museum read George Haspells “Sons of Albion”? just a thought,talking of Museum we are updating some displays and are looking for the loan of the following “Home” programmes from last season;

Sat August 18th Ossett Albion
August 27th Lancaster City
Tuesday 11th October Northwich Villa
Wednesday 11th Jan Buxton
Tuesday March 13th Middlewich,

If anyone has any items that they would like to see displayed in the Museum and that they are willing to donate/loan (Apart from Cyril stuffed and mounted!)please contact me on 07760 482922 or via any official of the Club, the revamp should be completed for the start of our new season

Think the thread turned into everyones fond memories of our beloved Central Groud rather than the book, but do agree that whoever the publisher is would be best off contacting the Club direct, Chad etc should they wish to get more meat off the bone as they say! Looking forward to the updated museum next season sounds awesome B)

I think you are right Paul, but originally it was just a request as to what the changing rooms used to look like! I am sure Wayne will read all this and contact the gentleman concerned. By the by, my wife and I appear in this months “Our Town” magazine. We were interviewed a few weeks ago after my wife mentioned our love of local history to the editor, Witton do get a small mention so it is not totally off subject Robbo.
Please keep your memories coming and I cannot wait to see the pictures.

Seems strange to me that somebody is writing a book about Witton, when they are an out and out Vics fan, and currently working for Vics as chief scout?

I think the length of the thread goes to show just how much the CG meant to wittoners, and will always do so for me. I’m not living in town atm but am always interested in local history and of course the Albs! I’ve not heard of “Our Town” magazine before, where can a copy of this be obtained from WHS? With regard to the publisher of the book I don’t know him or anything about his connection to v**s

Apart from what Wayne told me I know nothing about the book or what it will contain. You can contact Wayne (Porter) on Facebook. “Our Town” is a local glossy free magazine run by an ex local reporter John Buckley . It has good articles and information in it every month and can be obtained in Northwich Library and Rudheath Post office and several other places around the area. Now back to the thread! I was talking to Mike Carney in the baths and we were reminiscing about our days in local football. Both of us were lucky enough to play on most of the local semi professional grounds including Witton, Winsford and the Drill Field. The changing rooms at the Drill Field were at the back of the stand if our memories serve us right and he agreed with what has been said about the Central Ground. Great memories, great times.

Tick-a-Tick Tynan!

Thanks for that Eli - Certainly no Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Think most have been covered but there was also

“Davey, Davey break us a leg or two”

as well as the chant “EEEEEEEEEEE-LIIIIIIIIIIII-JAHHHHHHHHHHHH!”

My favourite was the Brian Griffin song!

Ah yes

“The Mighty Griffin” courtesy of Manfred Mann

And unless my memory is failing me, no bad language used.
