The Run in

Looking at our fixtures what points do you think we might end up on below are the games, home or away and opposition current league position :

Frickley Away 20th
Kings L Home 14th
Skem. Home 3rd
Rushall Home 11th
Ashton Away. 2nd
Whitby Home 15th
Nantwich Away 17th
FCUM Home 1st
Blythe Home 9th
Stamford Away 18th

I could see us getting between 9-12 points so finishing on 48-51 points and it all depends on how we perform in 10 cup finals unlikely to get much out of Skem,Ashton, FCUM and Blythe. So we need to get our points out of the rest with the absolute key games being Frickley, Whitby, Nantwich, Stamford and the debateable ones Rushall and Kings Lynn 6 home games might help us but on yesterday’s form we will be in trouble, we could really do with Gards and Fowler back ASAP !

My predictions as we stand would be as follows:

Frickley 1.
Kings Lynn 3.
Skem 1.
Rushall 3.
Ashton 0.
Whitby 3.
Nantwich 3.
FCUM 0.
Blyth 1.
Stamford 1.

That would give us 55 points which would be enough but that might be wishful thinking on my part.

Our home form has improved and with most of our remaining fixtures being at home, that might be vital. I will say though that I feel if we lose at Frickley, we could be in serious trouble. I wouldn’t expect us to get much at Ashton, FCUM might have the title sewn up by the time they visit us and Skem are inconsistent. Anything else is possible even if it’s unlikely.

After two games, we are -1 point on my prediction for the remaining fixtures.

Still quietly confident we will stay up but the list of remaining fixtures looks more difficult to me with every passing game. With FCUM and Blythe being two of the last three games its crucial we get as many points in the bag as possible before then as I can’t see us getting anything from either of those games.

…which were both wrong! :stuck_out_tongue:

Here is my prediction from the remaining games:

Skem 0.
Rushall 3.
Ashton 0.
Whitby 3.
Nantwich 3.
FCUM 0.
Blyth 0.
Stamford 3.

Think 12 points should see us safe? UTA

Maybe I did get the results wrong but I predicted four points out of those two. I’m fairly happy with that return so far especially, as we won the game I was most concerned with! I still think we will be alright at the end of the season but, I certainly didn’t think that we would win at Frickley. The main thing was that we didn’t lose it! Losing to King’s Lynn was obviously a disappointment but by all accounts that result wasn’t a true reflection of what happened. I’m confident that we will collect enough points to survive especially as the bottom three appear to be falling away now.

Well, here we are at the end of the season and safety still not assured. Still needing at least a point from a fixture that means so much to both clubs. When I made my predictions, I didn’t honestly think that it would come down to the final game of the season but slipping up in games when we didn’t really expect us to has brought this tense conclusion upon us.

My prediction was that Witton would end the season with around 55 points, victory tomorrow will see us fall just short of that but nevertheless guarantee our safety. The last month or so has made this more nerve-wracking than it might have been but then, this is Witton we’re talking about. Nothing comes easy at our great football club.

Come next season, we will no doubt all be there again for another eventful ride because it’s in the blood and never leaves you.

Well said Derek.

The good news is I’m going tomorrow and I haven’t seen Witton lose this season…

…mind you, I’ve only made it to the Frickley away game!
