Today

Can Blackburn pull off a miracle today and do everyone else a favour? What about the other games, who will be top by 10-00pm tomorrow? Can Spurs really win the title or is top four the best they can hope for? Will Bale and Modric still be at Spurs in February, and if they are will they stop for next season? That will do until Witton play on Tuesday.
WHS.

It’s Monday when we play Trafford, not Tuesday.

A small mistake, but I thought I’d better point it out, just so you don’t turn up at an empty ground on Tuesday expecting to watch a match.

We “Oldies” are always making mistakes but maybe my contention that United are overrated is not as daft as it sounded, nor is my £10 at 40-1 on Spurs for the title, though we did drop 2 points late on today. See you on MONDAY God willing.

you are right about utd but wrong about spurs - city all the way im afraid WHS

You are probably right unless they have an off-field rumpus which is not out of the question given the volatile players in their ranks. I may be wildly wrong but I cannot see United beating ANY of the top five or six teams in the league and I think they may have trouble making the top four unless Fergie buys well in January.

Happy New Year everyone.
WHS.

United will be there at the end of the season. We are very reliant on Rooney and when he doesn’t play we are often terrible. Even so in may we will be there or there abouts. City are very strong but they do play lescott and barry which means anyone on there day can beat them. It will be interesting to see the transfers this month, don’t think fergie will sign anyone of note as he is as stubborn as they come.

Anyway happy new year to everyone at our beloved club. See you all tomorrow hopefully we will get a decent crowd that creates a good atmosphere!

It may be worth pointing out that United have beaten Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs already, with an aggregate score of 14-3. So they certainly can!

In United’s defence, had the Newcastle penalty not been given (and it shouldnt have) they’d be top this morning, having won 9 out of 9 before yesterday.

Terrible performance against Blackburn but these things happen. United couild easily go on another 8 or 9 game winning run. It’ll be interesting to see how City cope with that pressure, which is unlikely to let up until the derby, if City are able to win that. I can’t see anything other than a Manchester top 2.

As for the injuries, here’s an outfield ten they were shorn of yesterday:-

Smalling-Vidic-Ferdinand-Evans

Fabio-Fletcher-Cleverley-Young

Rooney-Owen

Not a bad side!

Is Rooney injured then? Has he injured his tongue?

Punished for going out on Boxing Day according to the Mail.

Edit: which I only read after my previous post!

From what you read a complete over reaction by fergie and he rarely forgives so will rooney be on his way, these top players have huge egos dont need to cow tow to anybody even ferguson, so 3 of the missing players during an injury crisias are fergies fault ? maybe he is losing the plot.

I think the Mail is going OTT with the stuff about him being on his way. If true I agree its a bit harsh (no doubt Fergie thought he could win without Rooney) but there’s no way it’s enough to make him leave. He’ll just play a blinder against Newcastle!

No one believed Beckham would go, or Keane, or Ronaldo but they did. I expect Rooney to leave in the summer, but it may happen sooner than that. As for United’s win against Spurs, it was against Spurs reserves to be fair, the full team will “stuff” this United team. And “NO” you can’t have Modric or Bale!! (You can keep Berbatov and Carrick, they wouldn’t get in our team) Be honest, are you SURE you could beat City or Spurs or Chelsea or Arsenal or even Liverpool at the moment? You may even struggle at Newcastle. Anyway will now move on to more important matters, Sale at Leicester and Witton at home to Trafford, Premier League is just one bunch of foreigners playing another bunch of foreigners with virtually all the clubs owned by foreigners, might as well watch the Bundesliga or Serie A!!!

I just think the previous 9 games, with 8 wins and a draw, are a better indicator of United’s chances and ability than yesterday’s debacle. They looked careless and lacked cutting edge; plenty of chances but only testing the keeper on a few occassions. Having said that, both Hernandez and Keane cleared off the blackburn line!

I think it was a combination of bad luck, profligacy and underestimating the opposition that did for them, which isnt necessarily an indication of a slump or a lack of quality.

Newcastle will of course be a tough game, though they’ve been in dire form lately.

Time to move on from United’s dismal defeat against Blackburn, as C**y failed to capitalise today.

Well done Martin O’Neill and Sunderland!!

Looking good for Spurs! The only team in the top four prior to yesterday to get a point. Arsenal on the move, Liverpool on the move, City and Chelsea about to spend millions, I still think United will struggle to make the top four and will certainly not win the league unless they buy and sort out Rooney.
WHS.
PS City should forgive Tevez, they need him.

Scholes winner?

How desperate are United getting? Paul Scholes out of retirement? As for injuries, Spurs won the other day minus King, Huddlestone, Dawson, Parker, Lennon and Van de Vart!! (Is that how you spell it?)
WHS.

  • now Sandro and Gallas are injured. Lets hope the Yids and the Albs have something in commmon at the end of the season. They both win their respective leagues but it will be tough for us both… SBL
