Tomorrows game

Hi newbie here, we are visiting Witton for the first time tomorrow and are planning a visit to the Anderton Boat Lift in the morning. Is it possible to walk to your ground from there via the canal and if so is it obvious where you leave the towpath? Thanks in advance for any info.

The boat lift obviously lifts boats between 2 waterways. If you follow the canal towpath alongside the upper canal, then this will take you to Wincham Park. Look out for the floodlights on your right when you get to Wincham. (I am not sure if they are still there, but Northwich Vics old stadium floodlights are on the left). Best leave the canal at the bridge on Chapel Street.

However, I must point out that this canal meanders greatly, and could put a couple of miles on the journey. I would suggest checking on google earth for a more straighter route. Basically, you would follow the lower waterway, until you come to a road (Marbury Lane). Turn left onto this road, and after a short distance turn right onto a footpath. This takes you north/east around Neumans Flash. This comes out at the start of Chapel Street. Walk down Chapel Street, turning right to the ground just before the bridge over the canal.

Hope this helps

TT - hope to see you tomorrow also.

I look forward to seeing you at our great football club guinness

So, away to FCUM on Tuesday. The Whixley Branch will be there.

With NFU winning the league, Hednesford host AFC Fylde, a reversal of today’s fixture.

I have a good feeling about Tuesday. Anyone else got a similar feeling to last year??

Yeah you could sense it in the club after the game. FC is going to be a tough tough game but we’ve more than held our own against them this season so why not? Don’t want to start thinking of the final just yet though!
