Trafford FC v. Witton Albion

Admission Prices confirmed as follows:

Adults: £9, Concessions: £6, Under 16’s: £2.

Witton make the short trip to Trafford FC on Saturday afternoon in a Northern Premier League West Division fixture.

Jon Macken’s team have started to put a run together in recent weeks and will look to extend their unbeaten run to seven games in all competitions.

Trafford FC are currently tenth in the league table and have lost only once in five home games in the league so far.

Their last three games have produced mixed results with one win at Clitheroe and two defeats to 1874 Northwich and Widnes FC respectively.

Witton and Trafford FC haven’t met since the 2015/16 season where they met three times including an FA Challenge Cup tie, with Albion coming out on top in all three games.

From the previous eleven league meetings played at Shawe View, Witton have an excellent record with five wins, five draws and only one defeat.

The last time Witton visited Shawe View on November 21st 2015, saw them come away with a 2-1 win courtesy of two Danny Andrews goals including a penalty and they completed the league double in April 2016, again with the aforementioned Andrews on target alongside Rob Hopley.

One pleasing aspect of Albion’s latest win against Ramsbottom United last weekend, was that they achieved it without leading scorer Joe Duckworth and Mike Koral filled that gap perfectly with his two goals.

Trafford FC have always proved difficult opponents in the past and this game will be no different.

One familiar face to Witton supporters who is likely to be in the Trafford team is former goalkeeper Matt Cooper, who is still going strong and will no doubt be doing his best to thwart the Albion attack.

Overall I thought Trafford deserved the win played good attacking football but missed lots of chances.

However their first goal was 2 yards offside, the Trafford fans around me agreed and our keeper should have cleared that easily! Then after our equaliser Kennerley missed 2 glorious chances to make it 2-1.

We didn’t play that well, sloppy in possession, shape not great with Williams on the right wing. He has to play, but in the middle with Barrow then play wingers who can beat a man and cover the full-backs.

Haywood was really exposed and Jackson to a degree with Rokka not on his game. Still work to do to get us consistent and challenging and Leek will be a real challenge. UTA

Another one of those games where we could possibly have got something but couldn’t quite hold on, with their second goal coming after one of our attacks broke down on the edge of their penalty area.

Overall I agree that Trafford deserved to win, given the number of goalmouth scrambles we survived before eventually conceding.

Wasn’t close enough to see the potential offside for their first goal, nor whether they should have had a penalty in the first half.

Hope the steward who was injured in a collision at the edge of the pitch is OK. The ambulance was still outside the ground as I was leaving after the game.

I thought things were going for a goalless draw supported by playing good football and Trafford are strong at home.

Always nice going to our friends at a great stadium and yes we hope the steward is ok

Just to update everyone, Trafford have posted on their Twitter account that the steward suffered a bleed on the brain following the incident.

He was kept in hospital overnight but does not require surgery and is expected to make a full recovery.
