http://www.northwichguardian.co.uk/news/13581468.Wincham__urban_village__is_given_the_go_ahead/ Looks like things are finally starting to move ahead with this I wonder where they are thinking of moving us to?
The last I heard, albeit some time ago, we told the council and the builders, our land was not for sale, and as such, they would need to plan their village around our property.
The picture of their plans looks very old, as it still shows a football stadium to the east of the canal.
As announced by our Chairman at the Fans Forum on Thursday. We will be re-located and fully catered for and that will include a 4G pitch as well
Where at Chad?
Thanks Chad.
As you know, I missed the end of the meeting due to prior commitments.
More like when? Paul
All Mark could elaborate on was it would be no further away from the town centre than we are now and would be at least equal with the Wincham Park facilities including car parking.
It really is in the developer’s hands to come up with the complete deal but I repeat when?
Does outline planning permission trigger that payment to us??
Whenever it happens it will be sad, we’ve had some fantastic times at Wincham Park which will always be a massive part of the clubs history. Many, many happy days. I hope we buy Sainsbury’s land back and plonk the Central Ground back on it! lol
Let us be grateful that we will still have a ground which is more than can be said of our two local rivals. And let us be clear, we cannot be pushed off our ground without a suitable replacement being in place. My money is on Moss Farm.
WHS.
I’m sure there are many complexities to overcome and it sounds like it won’t happen for a few years anyway. I agree though WHS Moss Farm would seem to be the logical place but I’ve no doubt wherever it is Mark and the board will make the correct decision on what is the best location for the club going forward. UTA
You can forget Moss Farm. That land is for the use of local people to play on, not for local businesses to play on. Sometimes we forget that football clubs at our level are private businesses, run by shareholders.
That’s why Winsford Council were wrong to sponsor Winsford United with rate payers money, as it would be wrong to give away rate payers land to build football stadiums on, be they a Northwich Team or a Witton Team.

All of it, really?? I live on Moss Farm and the vast majority of the land is rarely used by local people or anyone else. I’m looking out of my window now and there is not one person on the whole area. You have Winnington Park RFC, Northwich RFC and the sevens pitches that’s about it, even on Sunday mornings nowadays many of the pitches are free. Not to mention the recent closure of the swimming baths…I’m not saying you’re wrong just that there is a huge area that is unused. The council (or whoever owns it all) might want to leave things as they are but there is more than ample room to have a football stadium there. Also our reserves played on the enclosed pitch there at one time if i’m not wrong, was that not part of our “private business”?
1874 Northwich FC is NOT a private business dedicated to private profit.
They are a Provident Society regulated by the Financial Regulator with close supervision of their accounts and activities as befits an organisation run in a democratic manner and owned by its fans.
Their Co-Operative status apart from operating to very strict legal, financial, democratic, and ethical standards makes it eligible for all kinds of Community benefits including financial grants including Lottery grants and other benefits including Council backing because of that status.
Makes you think, doesn’t it?

What business (and why are you even on this forum for that matter?) is this discussion to do with 1874 Northwich FC or indeed any other football club other than WAFC?
Money talks very loud to councils, if the Winham developers offer say £1.5 million to the council for an area of moss farm to build us a stadium it will happen and if it ties in with us then releasing land for housing as part of that councils 10 year vision plan then even better for them ? in these terms 1874 have not got a proverbial pot to P*** in charity status or not! we could have our new stadium, with better facilities than now, an astro turf training pitch and £0.75 million in the bank, makes you think doesn’t it ?
It does CJ, it certainly does. UTA
Gents.
Good point, well made.
What would happen if your majority shareholders decide to take their money and walk away as you quite rightly say money talks but so does politics and votes.
By the way, I am on this forum as a taxpayer as you are providing succour to Jim Rushe and his “activities”
Time will tell.

I’m curious about the probing questions and think its only fair that you answer one now.
My question is this - If 1874 Northwich had their own ground would they ever sell it?
You are getting a bit desperate now MM, however just to educate you a little so that we don’t listen to desperate rumours ! even if the ex directors agreed to act as one ( and if you knew them and Witton history they wont ) then they could raise around 30% ish of the shareholding, and the other 70% ish is owned by Genuine Witton fans so in a vote for a new ground what do you think might happen, I suspect a minimum of 70% voting to have a new ground, the 30% cannot insist on taking out there share in money, they can ask maybe to sell there shares back at face value which would have no impact on the move just a few thousand less in the bank- at least until the shares are sold on again. UTA
Paul
I suspect that 1874 will never be able to own its own ground unless it is a long term lease or partnership with another organisation.
If Northwich had its own ground of course it might sell it depending on the circumstances and if the terms were right like Witton intend to do.
The difference is that the assets of 1874 are owned by the fans and they would have the final say.
C.J Then good luck to you all
