v Barnton

Im confused about tonights game!
First of all its a Mid Cheshire Senior Cup game, i heard originally we were only fielding our Reserves in this competition but ive now been told its a mix of 1st teamers and Reserves tonight so who’s the Manager? Is Sully picking the side or is Bones in charge tonight?

Secondly when i googled this competition today it had us down to play away at 1874??

Thirdly ive been told by a Club Official that tonights admission prices are the normal match day prices! £10 seems a bit excessive for a MCSC match especially considering we only paid a fiver to get into Gresty Rd a couple of weeks ago in the Cheshire Senior Cup!

I would of thought judging by recent results and Liverpool v Real Madrid on telly that they may even let folk in for free tonight as a goodwill gesture? Plus im sure i only paid £3 to watch us in this competition last year?

Spot on Matt.

I was umming and aahing about tonight’s game as i’ve got to take Mookie Jr to football training, and there’s a decent game on TV. But I decided i’d drop him back at home and come down. Now im not sure i’ll bother.

Many of us have paid good money to sit through the worst run in the club’s history. We don’t ask for much and if the club want to charge full whack fair enough, but considering i’ve personally spent about £100 just to watch 10 of those 11 defeats (on admission, let alone everything else spent on a matchday) and that MCSC games are usually a fiver or so, it seems a bit sharp to throw this out on the afternoon of the game.

Good luck to the lads.

How are the Barnton fans going to react when they arrive expecting to pay a fiver to find out its double that?
At a time when crowds are dropping and were constantly in the news for the wrong reasons this is a real own goal

Thankfully the club have seen sense and its £6 & £4

I hope that you will come and support us and cheer on a the young lads making senior debut’s tonight

Agree that I’m sure we were drawn against 1874 originally.

We were then away to Barnton - but don’t think they have got lights installed yet.

The Prices, well we have this discussion every season so why wait until a few hours before kick-off to announce them?

Reckon our lowest ever home attendance of 91 - Alsager Cheshire Senior Cup 21 / 9 / 2011 could be under threat tonight.

The lights debuted last night Phil, although they probably weren’t certain at the time if they’d be ready.

They look much brighter than the lights at Curzon! The bulbs were constantly going off but only at the end we were attacking in both halves strangely enough

Just a quick note on the admission prices, arranging a lower admission (which we have always done for this competition) has been overlooked by myself and Mark in recent weeks and we apologise for any inconvenience.

So people are clear, whilst it is our home game (somehow) it is not our decision alone on price and any price changes have to be agreed by all three parties, including the mid Cheshire FA. (same for any such game ie us away at Stockport last season etc). This was perused later than normal (today) and I’m sure you will understand we cant announce a reduction until it is agreed.

Although the team is expected to be a mixed team, sadly the game still carried costs of hosting the game of around £250 upwards (officials/catering/electric etc) not to mention the time the groundstaff etc spend preparing and therefore an admission needs to be charged - very similar to friendlies in reality.

The net gate is also split between the three parties including the FA (similar to all other cup games) hence it is all pay - which again is not our choice/doing ie so we cant allow season tickets in as a gesture of goodwill or the kids go free.

As always - you know where I am Saturday if you want to discuss the ins and outs of the finances.

Strong attack for the Albs tonight

Won 4-1 and a good entertaining game, Titch scored 2, Bakkor scored from a penalty and the very promising Ryan Reed scored with a great header

Its lovely to see us win at last :goal

Liverpool?

Thank you all for your much valued support tonight. Was a good solid win for the club and what an honor it was for me to take charge of this game. My thanks go to Sully for trusting and believing in our Reserves Management Team. Was great to see 6 players in the squad and a shame for Ben Daniels we couldn’t keep his sheet clean. Was also great to see Ryan Read score on his debut after only being with the reserves a short time. Special praise goes to Danny De La Bastide our 16 year old RB who came on early in the 1st half and showed us all the future of the club with an outstanding performance in my opinion. I have so much faith in this kid its frightening but he has done himself and the club proud tonight. I’m not surprised that most of the questions i was asked after the game were all about him.

We will now await and study the rest of the QUARTER FINAL results and awaith the draw for the SEMI FINALS with interest and hope that we get more of you out to see if we can get the club into the final

Bonez

Thought Rainford’s work for our first was excellent.
:clap

A bit more praise - Barnton were a good, battling team and should have been ahead early on, but the Goalie was excellent then, and throughout ( apart from his kicking - must be a Witton thing…). The two early runs to make a goal and another that should have been were quality. We missed loads of chances, especially Bakkor, but always kept going. Delighted to see Titch bag a brace. But as has been said, the lad who came on at right back was terrific, fast, good tackler and passed some great first-timers. All in all, for a thrown together side, i was well pleased. Congrats to the whole coaching team. I was close enough to Sully to hear that he is a great reader of players and the game, so can’t wait for the real challenge on Saturday.

Well done Albion a monkey off our backs ! And two goals, formTitch is great.

Gate? Still tied up with the two plays I am in but I will be a regular at home games from December regardless of our league position.
