Vauxhall Motors v. Witton Albion(Cheshire FA Senior Cup First Round)

Witton travel to Vauxhall Motors again on Tuesday night when the two teams meet in the Cheshire FA Senior Cup First Round.

A matter of days after the two played out an interesting league game, the cup draw has thrown them together again.

Harry Brazel’s brilliant free-kick gave the Albion a share of the points on Saturday but Joe Duckworth was denied by the woodwork in the closing minutes, for what would have been an excellent winner.

Tuesday’s game is a different matter as a positive result will be guaranteed one way or another.

Witton’s team selection will obviously depend on availability and the injury situation but, Ben Harrison and the players will be wanting to progress in the competition.

Should the game be drawn after normal time, penalty kicks will determine who gets through to the second round.

Cup football is so difficult to predict, being a one-off and both teams will be doing their utmost to get the right result.

We did not look like winning this one! Midfield was weak and disjointed really, played little football but battled at least.

Akpo was not as effective as Saturday but Bairstow was probably our standout player, Tierney did ok but hoped he might play midfield holding role.

Did we need another centre back? Only bright note for me was Harry Woods in a late cameo role had 3 one on ones with keeper due in the main to his pace and willingness to put the runs in. Sadly didn’t convert them but looked promising.

Onto the league now and hopes of some injured players back to try and push up the league. UTA
