They were lightning quick at getting the ball from the keepers hands to their strikers so definitely better to keep it in the corner!
Whilst it isn’t pretty it is a better way to waste time than taking for ever to take a goal kick. The referee can stop his watch for wasting time when the ball is not in play.
I’m not sure every attempt by Titch to take it into the corner was deliberate as some of his first touches took him in that direction anyway!
Bottom line is we got a very good 3 points, which not only helped our cause, but dragged the opponents back into the mix.

Unfortunately I missed the game on Saturday but i’m glad we showed a bit of maturity and tried to do the sensible thing and run the clock down. I wonder how the West Brom fans are feeling today after seeing Berahino give the ball away in the dying seconds, trying to pinch a late goal and loosing 2 points to there rivals!
3 points was the target, which is what we got. so come on stop complaining, it was a game in which the players showed a full 100% commitment and was richly deserved. good to see josh back, we always pose a threat playing wide with him on the left and danny on the right, a perfect combination. also with the tenacity, not to mention an array of skills from scot i think it looks good for the future. also must say it was good to see gards back at his usual and best position. looking forward to the remaining games which will see us staying up, and building for next season.
I don’t actually care how we get 3 points in each game at this moment in time to be perfectly honest, and whilst I love football for the entertainment its given me over the years (despite my choice albeit hereditary of teams!). I have seen us far to often be the best footballing team in the division and not get the reward that it deserves
.
Re the point, if we ever had a clear cut one on one situation, then of course we should go for goal, but we didn’t! And running the clock down whilst retaining possession in the oppositions half is far preferable to conceding possession and getting ever nervier and the defence getting ever deeper.
Listening to some of the stuff that got spouted on Saturday when we were winning, I have to say that there are certain people whose inane and continual verbal tripe who make mine and many other peoples WP experience cringable and make me embarrassed to be a Wittoner. (That isn’t you Ron btw!).
We have a habit as Wittoners of moaning when we get beat at the officials, difficult job and all that but the referee on Saturday especially 1st half was woeful, with the highlight being the handball that only 2 people in the ground failed to see. He must have been bad because BOTH managers pilloried him at half time (over to you GE!).
Bottom line 3 massive points and its in our own hands which is nice for a change! UTA
Yes it was a penalty. His performance - best left to the assessor.

On balance, it seems the discussion prompted about running down the clock has me in the minority - fair enough, we’re all entitled to our opinion. maybe I was just feeling less positive than many about Saturday’s ( ok, really the second half’s performance). It’s partly about context, I suppose. If we’re winning tonight at Chorley with 2 minutes to go, I dare say I wouldn’t have too many complaints about the tactic.
Anyway, I can’t make it tonight so good luck boys, and I hope all those that do make the trip have a profitable evening. I’d settle for a point…
Now would be a good time for Uinted to run it to the corner.
