Other results not too bad either. Marine and Barwell won, Frickley, Ilkeston and Stamford lost.
frickley now 4 pts behind so bit of a cushion :clap
Another really good performance from Scott Bakkor tonight. Not sure what his deal is, but I really hope he sticks around next season. We expect to lose Titch but I think Bakkor and Walker would be more than good enough to make us competitive next year.
Another fine performance from Danny and great to see Sheenz back. Congrats also to Josh, great first goal and a lovely pass to set up the second.
Apparently Scott has said hes hoping to stay with us next season which is great news, he runs his legs off and still always seems to be smiling! A great asset for the club

Spot on there tbf.
Would add that the new lad looked lively in midfield also.
I intentionally didn’t post yesterday as there is nothing worse than a moaner when the team have won. Also most of the posts since Grantham have been pretty positive. However one issue is still worrying me and I want to get a thread going and gauge other Wittoners’ views.
We all noted that Hammers fans booed their team off after a win in midweek, which doesn’t surprise me. As an “ex-pat” at Upton Park I witnessed this many times. I remember one occasion when they got booed off at half time whilst leading 2-0!! Why? because the team weren’t playing the West Ham way. I think that Witton have the same principles, which is why I stick by them through thick and thin and Pritch always has my full support. However…
What do others think about this “run it into the corner” syndrome ? I reckon on two occasions yesterday Scott and Titch could have had a one-on-one with the keeper in the 2nd half, but chose to go for the corner and run down time. I have two issues with this
-
It ain’t football as I understand it, which is about trying to score goals
-
It doesn’t mean you are going to win the game - witness our porous defence and the number of late goals we have conceded this season.
So, maybe this has influenced my mood. I thought the goals were great and was delighted that Coops had a solid game, but this negativity left a sour taste, for me. OPINIONS PLEASE…
Not a fan of running it into the corner when there’s a chance, but equally, not a fan of taking a gamble in injury time and dropping points because of it. I think its ok when you’re leading by a goal but would hate to see it at 3-0. Then again, I suppose it depends on how the game is going too. If you’re under pressure and want to relieve it its a good tactic.
I quite agree, RonMoy. Good result yesterday, and we played pretty well in the first half, but second half was dire. It would have been a great improvement (and morale-boosting) if we’d at least had a go in those two situations, even if we hadn’t scored. I know the points are important with our league position, but surely another goal or two would have made the win even more likely - and anyway, when we do take it into the corner, the amount of time we waste is negligible.
I’m all for attack attack attack but how many late goals have we seen go in this season?
If we were mid-table then fine go for it but every point is huge at the mo so I can’t blame them for going for the corner.

Agreed.
Had we tried to score and been hit on the counter, i’m pretty sure everyone would be complaining about naivity.
We’re now 3 points closer to safety.
Once relegation is avoided then by all means attack attack attack, but when every point counts then let’s not take any chances.
